The one thing I love about winter is when it snows really hard and you can have snowball fights all day long. The rest I hate

    Good things:
    • My birthday
    • Christmas (or any holiday, I celebrate Christmas (although not rebelliously :P) so for me that's the holiday I'm happy for during winter)
    • Snow (before it turns to slush, at least :c)
    • Making snow forts (I've made ones as tall as I am xD)
    Bad things:
    • It being -500 out and school saying "well it's not THAT cold, u have school"
    • there being a foot of snow and school saying "ur going to school"
    • Shoveling LOTS of snow from the driveway
    • Freezing your face off by stepping within 5 feet of a door.

OK lemme use this thread as a place to fully express my feelings on this topic.
As it is well-recognized among almost everyone here, I live in Manhattan.
YES, I am located in the northeastern section of USA.
NO, we do not get an exceptional amount of snow for it to qualify for a well-needed snow day.

Now that the unfair facts - which I have cumulated over the past few years I have lived here - have been written down here so that you may all feel sympathetic for me, I am going to proceed with enunciating the ranting portion of my comment.

As a student attending a private school, I am furious with the system that determines whether it is a snow day or not. Because of my displeased emotions towards the decisions my school made, I decided to question how they establish snow days with the head of my school. The head of my upper school had informed me that they follow the system that the public schools follow as well. To be blunt: that is complete BS. Last year, we had an overall total of 1 snow day to my knowledge. ON THE OTHER HAND, my friend from a public school revealed to me that her school totaled more snow days than my school, ESPECIALLY ON DAYS WHERE I TRUTHFULLY COULD NOT ARRIVE AT MY SCHOOL ON TIME DUE TO STUPID ICE ON THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC (<-- traffic is another reason why I hate winter in Manhattan. I blame it on the stupid tourists).
After attending my unintelligent-with-determining-snow-days school for a few years, I had concluded that they only close my school down for snow days when the lunch ladies could not use any form public transportation as they live in New Jersey (a place full of snow!!).
So, pretty much, snow, WHICH THE CITY IS DESTITUTE OF NATURALLY, will usually not qualify as a snow day for us hardworking students unless the employees do not acquire proper nutrition to benefit only themselves.
    (The food sucks)
    :D

And that is why I hate winter.

If you are too lazy to read my rant, then that is okay. Have fun with your snowy days that I long for.
    ;~;

I like the Christmas spirit that is abundant throughout Manhattan though. c:
