    Okay.
    Some things.

    1) Yes Skype resolvers used to be a thing. However, I have not really found any that still exist. HOWEVER, that does NOT remove the problem, as they can STILL theoretically exist. So use caution, and do what Trans said.
    2) It doesn't matter if they added you to Skype or not. If I knew a Skype resolver, give me a Skype name, and I can resolve it. I don't need to be friends. IF THIS SETTING ISN'T SET.
    3) Just for your information. As it has been said before. DDoS is sending a flood of packets to a particular IP address in order to temporarily deny or slow access to a shared resource, such as the internet, hence the name Distributed Denial of Service. It is not hacking you, and they do not have access to your computer or any of your personal files.
    4) DDoSing requires an extensive network of computers with fast internet in order to get any valuable result. We're talking somewhere around 20 computers, each with a Gigabit connection, just for a home user. I would be surprised if some low-life Minecrafter was able to pull this one off (Not insulting. Just saying he does not have the skills or the resources of a professional hacker, SysAdmin, or developer)

So just follow these steps, and yes, you should be relatively fine.

Another statement that I've seen that I want to bring up.
No, no one can get your IP address through Minecraft (unless they found a Force OP bug... Of which there isn't.)
So they can NOT get your IP from Minecraft, nor can they hack through Minecraft.

Just thought I should clarify this.
No I am not coming back.

    ~Wolf.

I hope the person gets banned.
So, um, I'm going to use TS (Teamspeak) and facetime audio from now on, this makes the internet more dangerous o.o

[Edit]: Just found out play station got targeted

All of you are talking about Ddos. Ddos means DISTRIBUTED Denial of Service. That means, like you said Wolf, that multiple computers are being used to attack someone. However, this is Dos, just Denial of service, only done by a single user/computer. Ddos is being used by hacking groups (e.g Anonymous), to attack banks, firms etc. Once again, this guy is just dossing with ONE single computer. It isn't that hard to Dos these days, since you can get someone's IP easily.

If you use a proxy / VPN server, you shouldn't worry for any attacks.

Skype resolvers are still a "thing" look up skype resolver on google, youll see what I mean. There is even one that allows you to find someones IP only using their skype username, and it requires no download. Im not going to post link but its not very hard to find. This IP finder can be executed in the browser window. It is free. If you haven't found any of these "resolvers" then no offense, but you haven't looked very hard.

Secondly yes, you would need numerous computers to pull off a ddos. However there are programs out there that let you enter an IP, and using their computers ddos a network. Most of these programs cost money or have viruses or adware attached, but are still readily available for public use. This means that you don't need 20 computers to pull off a ddos, all you need is to download one program. Worst of all, this requires hardly any work at all. The ddos program and skype IP grabber make ddosing a two step process that anyone can achieve regardless of computer or internet capacity.

So yeah, you can all use google.

To make this short and close this, DDoS-ing is a crime. Therefore, legal actions can be taken.

By the law it is stated that it can result in penalty, either paying the fine, big one, or serve time in prison.

If any of you have VALID proof of someone DDoS-ing you or someone else, you can report them and they would potentially get permanently banned from the server and related content.

You are also free to press charges against them.

Like Leandro said, this is not an actual DDoS attack as it is not targeted by several computers, but just one.

My advice, everyone can do it, but just don't. It does not make you a "hacker" and does not make you a badass. It could potentially screw your life up if authorities get notified.
