Okay I have an insight onto this too. Here is what I think.

The post a picture of yourself thread can be seen as a way of social interaction and even to gain trust. In the least ''stalk-ish'' way possible, it's a good thread to see what people look like. Confidence plays a big factor yes and many people have posted countless pictures of themselves (myself included).

Here's the thing. Is this considered farming likes? In one kind of way, yes since people like the way someone looks and so on. But there is more behind likes in this particular thread. I find it as a show of support, like for example, you may not think you look the best but maybe a like could make you a little more confident. It's also supportive since it's brave. And if you notice, some of the pictures posted by many people have different themes like, them wearing some Christmas sweaters or wearing a band t-shirt before going to their favourite concert. It's like the forums' version of Instagram. And what do these to sites have in common? One: They both involve sharing pictures and...Two: Likes are involved.

Here is what I consider like farming on this thread and Andy said it remarkably well, is when people say they are ugly when they know they're not. This can be seen as a manipulative tool to gain likes since they are ''so upset'' with the way they look. Another form of like farming could be people posting pics of themselves showing off abs or something because it's (somehow) appealing to our generation.

At the same time I wouldn't call it like farming. If you want to post pictures of yourself, you may. People can't stop you. It's not our choice for people to like our picture or not. If that was the case, nearly every staff member would be considered a like farmer because their posts get a lot of likes because they deserve it for their support.

I see where you are coming from though Lerh but I do think that the statement regarding people using the thread solely for likes is a bit over the top. However I agree with your concept.

For the other two points. People creating an account to post pictures of themselves doesn't bother me. It could be seen as an easy way of introducing themselves. I agree that the arguing needs to stop but the only way we can do that is if we all co-operate. If someone shares a picture of a goat face as a troll, just leave it, commenting just makes it worse. You may not like it but starting an argument doesn't help.

    That's all, sorry it's long.

i don't know if someone said this already because I didn't read all the post but

whats wrong with posting a picture more than once? you are not begging for likes if you do that you are just posting a picture of yourself maybe in a different t-shirt or you are sharing a new hair cut or whatever.

I dont really get what you guys are complaining about? Everyone has their right to have their opinions, and if you think it's bored to look at the same pictures, then you could post a picture of yourself and stop complaining. If you enjoy posting pictures of yourself, go ahead.
If people like to post pictures, why hold them back? If they're doing it for likes, so what?
Some of you people who don't even post pictures of yourself, are asking others to do so. And if you're posting many pictures of yourself then you're asking others who didn't post pictures of themselves to post a picture of themselves? Okay. That doesn't make any sense at all. But that's my opinion.
    Have a nice day :D

If people want to post a picture of themselves, they can do it. They can post anything that isn't profantic.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking pictures of yourself, I am not a fan of it myself but people can do what they want in THEIR OWN life.
