So shouldn't people be banned for spamming?

Look, they are just preventing spam.
But in my opinion, this is just a silly way to prevent it.
Why can't we have a 9 second or 13 second chat cooldown? (I said this on the Skyblock and Creative chat thread, BTW)

It's just a prevention for spam.
They might do something in the future for it.
And I wasn't expecting this much haters on the same day...
Just don't be telling everyone to go on a certain plane, fly to the Netherlands, and protest at Jerry and Harry's house... (let's hope not)

We do need a 9 second cool down. Donate, Sky fanboy. Don't care? Do you know HOW long it takes to code? And how many typos you can make? Think again, wise guy.

And that is exactly why you don't have world chat anymore. So the only person you can blame is yourself. Donators with no chat cooldown, who abuse it, are the ones responsible for this. Coming from your behaviour, you're probably one as well.

Look, you can't always have it your way. Its either this problem, or that problem. Stop acting like spoiled brats and look at the positives of things.

No spam, no lag, and its much easier to talk to those you want to talk to.
The toggle thing could be a feature that would be nice, but we'll see what the owners say.

Think about it, JH talked about this. It ain't silly, it is effective. You can still chat with friends since most likely you can just go to /spawn and chat. ARE YOU THAT LAZY? Apparently.
Caleb, don't spam Idc shit around, it isn't really needed. We don't need this petition.
If your effort is not appreciated by people, wouldn't you feel bad?

And, last note, it's more appropriate to just suggest the old chat instead of having an unnecessary petition. We have 1000 plus players, and 700 petitioners? Bullcrap. If you have suggested this, members could have expressed agreed or disagreed.

 

I can understand creative having the 100 blocks. I used to just turn my chat off ._.
But skyblock? They should make a chat limit or something.
Maybe they should get rid of the chat block thing, and replace it with: if you have been banned for spamming, advertising or anything else, the 100 block rule applies to you, and extend the chat waiting time or non-donators, and add maybe a 5-10 second one for donators.
Yes, I know no chat limit is a donator perk, but too many donators abuse it, which is sad.

They still have to refund it, since they didn't get what they promised. When they bought it, it said "no chat cooldown" not "shorter chat cool down". If it was changed for old donors, it could be classified as a scam.

 

Not really. They should be able to change perks slightly, without needing to refund. I wouldn't mind the chat for donators being 5 seconds, as long as non-donators get something like 20-30 second cool down.
It would reduce spam A LOT.

 

I vote to bring it back, but add a "all" option to /ignore - /ignore all. people can still pvt msg. Also, MC multiplayer options already allowed you to turn off chat, so if someone didn't like the spam, they could turn it off. Honestly, the fun I had playing on this server (skyblock) was building my island, then starting a shop, then selling to make my island better. CAN'T DO THAT NOW! Booring.... will not upgrade my VIP rank as planned. Also, I see FAR FAR fewer people online. The "advertise at spawn shop" doesn't work at all. Very few people are there overall.

What Misfit said is true. You guys complain about the littlest things and we implent new ways to help you guys, but then you guys just turn that crap down after hours of work. You don't know how much J&H have to do to make new addons.

If you don't want chat cooldown, then donate rather than bitch about it to people.

No matter which server you go to, there's always going to be spam. If you don't like it, then either turn off chat or uninstall minecraft.

 

Either way, they're working on a way to toggle it so you can all advertise your events and such.
As for skyblock, I'll agree that most people make their money from shops and are helpful indeed.
Heck, even I advertised a shop or two and asked for some supplies.
But there's a difference between advertising your shop and spamming it.
