The 8th school shooting of 2018. This is within 1 month and a few days.

A truly horrific scene filled the area with gunshots being heard from miles away. 5 killed and 20 wounded. The suspected shooter has been put into custody.

I speak this with full passion of everything and everyone. School shootings are not a joke and shouldn't be taken as one. No joke should be made surrounding death of people, especially those under 18.

These are innocent lives taken away by the monsters that aren't being treated correctly, whether it's a school shooting or not, they're killing people.

This is a truly devastating thing that is happening. I have seen a video of students inside of the building whilst the school was under lockdown, and it's hard to see and hear. I personally, wouldn't suggest watching it.

These school shootings, really, really, need to stop. The laws in America aren't doing anything to stop them, of course, with Trump in control, nothing really will be put into place... except for a wall.

My prayers are with the families of the 5 casualties.

 

I used to live there, interesting. I wish the families best of luck and hope they can recover from this event.

 

Sadly this is what our world has come to, common shootings. The victims and their families alongside anyone involved with this tragedy will be in my heart, thoughts, and prayers.

 

I don't understand how people allow this to keep happening. America needs to get its head out of its ass.

 

It really is awful to see on the news that there was a(nother) school shooting. I sent my condolences to the families that had to be alarmed their child has been killed, hurt, or even present during this tragic event. Hopefully the children who were injured make a full and healthy recovery, and the parents of the children who passed are getting the lots of support and love they deserve.

 

I love my country with all my heart but I agree with you here.

 

You're not sending prayers to stop school shootings, you're praying for the families of those who lost their children. I don't really see the comedic side of this.

 

I will say it's extremely disturbing to think the US is averaging more than 1 school shooting per week in 2018. but mainly Thoughts and Prayers to the families who lost loved ones.

 

What the actual fuck is your country doing? It's coming to the point where I see there's a school shooting on my news feed and I'm just like: "Oh, another one." It's not good that I'm starting to not give a shit about school shootings because it's so common. All the best for the families involved :(

 

This is why we need stricter background check we can't let any mentally insane person have a gun, i do happen to be pro 2nd amendment but the problem is the republicans want lesser background checks or no background checks at all especially the nra

 

I just read about this but there was a football coach who had stepped in line and protected a student/multiple students from bullet fire.

I don't know if he is still alive or not but let's all just hope for the best. He risked his own life to save others.

 

This is very sad news and it really pisses me off to see this but I want to clarify a few things.

I believe more than 10 people were killed in this shooting.
The 19 year old kid who was the shooter has a background of showing off firearms on social media and was suspended from that high school.

The background checks and "let mentally insane people have guns" do not apply to this. This kid took his dads gun and used it to kill people. I know where I live you can buy a rifle or shotgun at 18 but handguns you must be 21.
Also republicans do not want lesser and stop background checks. And no gun laws have been changed where you can buy a firearm without a background check unless its from a private owner (again where I live)
You can't say this is the fault of the government but what you can say that this is just bad parenting.


For all of those with the comments like "Whats wrong with YOUR country." And "YOUR country is messed up" You all act like it is the rest of the citizens fault for one kid to commit a crime that catches the eye of mainstream media like no other shootings or crime happens in the rest of the country and other countries as well. This is not what America is. For those who are not americans you only see the news from a national standpoint. Just like we do not see your local news stations. You cant say that america is fucked up when you have bad or even worse crimes being committed everywhere in the world.

America is one of the grestest countries in the world and because of the news media (CNN, Washington Post, Etc) most of what you see is exaggerated and fake beyond belief. Just remember that.

 

This. Thank you for this post. People ignore the event itself, and use it to attack someone else or to forward their agenda, and frankly, I can say I am getting extremely tired of it, and many other people are as well.

 

Hey, that ironic, Trump did this exact thing a week ago when an NFL player for the Colts was killed by an illegal immigrant. And this isn't the first time Trump has done something like this, using an event to try and forward his agenda.

I can say I am getting extremely tired of seeing innocent civilian lives being taken each and every day from mass shootings in the US, and many other people are as well.

In all fairness I see where you are coming from. However this isn't just a thing democrats do to try and push their agenda, both parties do it. And while it may be annoying, the only reason it is happening is because there is a problem that needs to be fixed.

 

I would appreciate taking this debate into DMs and such, so we don't flood the thread with a debate that ultimately gets it locked like every other similar thread. If you will continue this in DMs, I will be happy to respond to your points.

 

As a person who has a rather close friend who attends that school, it’s honestly the first time ive directly been affected by one of these events and while I may not go to that school or know anything about it, let me just say it is terrifying knowing that he could be injured or more. Its hard saying thoughts and prayers when im not that much of a religious person, but actually sitting down and praying today, it just felt different. I really, really hope he is ok.
