COD maps lack basic symmetry and map design. Listen to FORGEHUB's Design Talk about maps on YT. They explain the importance about verticality, sight lines, geometry. Most COD maps don't have much of these qualities.
They're designed how they are on purpose, they don't just make maps cause they look 'good'. A lot of thought goes into them.
I usually play the campaign before I hop in to multiplayer, so this is usually me: The game is great, but if you aren't an avid FPS player, meet your nightmare.
BOPS 3 is in the Honeymoon Phase right now. What I want to know is how it holds up months down the road.
You obviously don't know what has changed :D what about other games huh, forza 6 = forza 5, fallout 4 = fallout 3 etc, FIFA 16 = FIFA 15. 'All cods are the same' lol. I don't see free run mode in black ops 2, I don't see the same movement mechanics in other cods, I don't see specialists in other cods, different maps. No 'they're all the same' What a joke lol.
Im talking about COD, not Forza, Fallout or Fifa. True, There's always a new map. Anyways, most of people don't even use the free run mode. I'm talking about the black ops series, not advanced warfare. True, but thats just a simple addition.
I was just using them as examples xD I've been playing cod since 2007 so, I know every little difference there is :p I just don't like people saying 'all cods are the same' etc. :)
1. You would be surprised as how many people use free run. It gets competitive, many people try to get on the leaderboards with their time limit etc. 2. Black ops series ok? Black ops 2: were there any specialists? No. Were there any double jumps? No. Were there any Thrusters? No. Were there gunsmiths? No. Were there any paint jobs? No. There are so many differences within the black ops series itself.
Lack of symmetry, balancing, sightlines, verticality, readability and memorable design in COD maps suggest that maps are rushed through and they are not made with care. By the words of Mr. Pokephile "Maps must be made with care, and pique the players' interest. Maps must tell a "story" through them and have to be memorable." I don't see many memorable maps from COD, except from Nuketown. Take maps from Halo for example, maps like Lockout, Midship, Chiron TL-4 and Blood Gulch all are very memorable, because they perfect in design. Trust me, I've been forging some maps for awhile, and these aspects are important.
symmetry in cod wouldn't work. Almost every cod map out there is design with the '3 way' method. Take a look at 'combine', it has the centre, left and right paths. 'Nuk3town', same thing, you can go through the centre of the map (through the bus etc), or on either side where the 2 cars are parked. Basically every black ops 1, 2 and 3 maps are designed like that. It makes it more fun and adds variety to them. Black ops 1: firing range, summit, WMD Black ops 2: Raid, Turbine, Standoff Black ops 3: Combine, Breach, aquarium (Just examples) lol. To me, this makes the maps easily memorable. Maps have great detail, even parts which are not included in maps. E.g. (Redwood). Some maps don't have very good 'sight line' which I agree with :p Halo is a very different game. It has different movement mechanics and weapons. Those maps are designed to suit them. Same as in cod, the maps are designed to suit the movement mechanics and weapons.
