This is how the report system used to work, they used to be public but so everyone could see but only staff members could reply. They changed it to reduce the hate towards a player who gets reported and to add some anonymity to whoever is reporting them.
They are both harassment, and are both not tolerated. The warning system works to where as the punishment gets progressively more heavy after each offense. Both telling some to kys and to f off is a warn for harassment (or at least it used to). The harassment warn is worth one point. Depending on the amount of points you have is the result of the punishment. To me this is fair, sense they are both forms of harassment.
Exposing Scammers - Agreed, Lets people know who is trying to take your money or items, which can help out a lot. Exposing Hackers - Agreed to an extent.. as you can easily record them hacking, and report them.. easy peasy Exposing Abusive Players - Disagreed, reasoning to this is that they also can easily be reported.. and "Exposing" Them will only cause more problems to you, him/her and the community itself. If you are going to be "Exposing" them, do it in the proper sub forum in Mini-Games, like if there is a scammer in Factions, just make a thread about it in the Factions Sub Forum instead of in the General Discussions or Server Discussions, etc.. Also, any scamming outside of Factions, so if someone were to scam in Skyblock, Survival and Kitpvp.. those are reportable and bannable. So gather proof and report it.
I say no, as even though it would be nice to get revenge on someone who scammed you or similar, it can cause other players to harass them. "Oh you got banned for hacking? HACKER!!! Keep your hacks out of here" "Everyone don't tpa to Mappy she scammed me 10$" This can cause a multitude of things: Player can get embarrassed and start lashing out at others, which in turns either leads to all or none being warned, depending on severity. Players learn the behaviour of bullying, which can seep out of the environment that caused it. Player can get upset, especially if it was accidental or they regret it, or in the rare case, a false ban. I know people who break the rules are annoying, we all do. However, the current system is in place so no one gets harassed. Harassing someone who harassed you is no way to get to peaceful equality here. We deal with those who break rules quietly, so only a handful of people know what happened.
Hell to the no! I was making a report on someone, and accidentally put it in the wrong section, so I edited it to make a public shame. Public shaming makes you no better than the bully, I realized.
