There really is no "fake fan", you either are or aren't a fan.
Of course, I don't like it as well when someone listens to a few songs and acts like they've known the band forever and act likes they know everything about them.
But, who cares? If someone likes their music and considers themselves a "fan", let them be. The band also gets money when more people know about them and more people listen to their music. So, most bands don't see this as a issue because they win.

tbh, you should never really disrespect someone's music taste. Even if their music taste is shitty as hell.
I'm not a big fan of twenty one pilots but if someone enjoys their music, who am I to stop them?

    These people make me sick.

They are just stuck up people who think they are better than others for knowing a band for a longer period of time than some others.
For some reason, they believe only they have the right of calling themself fans.

I like Nirvana. I can name just 3 songs. You got a problem with that? I do not care at all just like nobody cares about your opinion either.

Being a fan does not mean being able to name every song, know when artist was born, what color their shi* is. That's called being obsessed, and thats whats called being fake because you're obviously trying to prove someone you are a fan.
Real fans dont care about anyone knowing it or not.

I am not listening to music to get approval from someone, I listen to what I want for my personal joy.

    PS:
There is no such thing as a shitty taste in music.
I love Metal and others dont. It does not make it shitty just because you dont like it. Millions of others approve of it.
Just like I wouldn't listen to Bieber if my life depended on it, millions do.
You can't call something shitty on a global scale.

I kinda like the fact that Twenty One Pilots is getting more recognition. I'm a fan of them and I listen to them everyday literally, and I don't mind seeing new people listening and enjoying it, I like that, that's awesome:

    top.png

    I liked the situation.
But there is 1 thing that I don't understand. Some individuals in specific do it as some sort of gateway towards popularity, trying to tell everybody how big of a fan they are and that they would die for them and whatever, for ''popularity''. I mean, I have nothing against it and I don't ''hate'' those people, it's just that people can see that and they are making a bad image of themselves. But in the end, it's their choice, no judge.

I don't go around and harass those people of course, and I don't get triggered, I just find it.. silly. You're not going to be cooler for liking something, you either like something or don't, not pretend just to fit in. You're putting aside your true self, your uniqueness just for friends. That's not.. bad, but you're denying yourself as an individual. I say this as a concern for those people, not to bash them and insult them.

One thing is liking or disliking something, another thing is faking something to get popularity. That's not ethical. You're literally allowing people and society to shape you the way they want... This doesn't go only for Twenty One Pilots, I'm talking in general terms of liking something, like.. Games, Movies, Food, etc.

People like Selena Gomez, I don't. If suddently she became a hit here, you most likely would not me see praising someone I don't know much about and which I personally don't like as an artist.

I believe everybody should be entitled to their own opinion, likes and dislikes. Some people in this community feel like their tastes is exclusive to them, when they are not.

Ok this got too long and I have work to do, but basically: listen to what you like, do what you like, be free. If someone says otherwise... screw them 0/

1: Some people want to be 'famous' so they pretend to like. (As Willy stated.)
2: Others actually just like the music but only know them through the forums.
I don't mind the 2 point but seriously, if you are going to pretend to like them, just don't. This applies to every forum trend really. Just because many people like it doesn't mean you should too. Like your own favourite things as pretending to enjoy a groups music isn't rewarding in the long run.

This was very brief but it was mainly because I wanted to voice my opinion on the issue. It's been bubbling up for awhile.

Honestly why do people have to argue over the validity of liking a band? If they want to be like that them let them be, it's dumb to judge for that.
