What a joke
--- Post merged ---
you use to be able to get a chargeback if you got perm blacklisted?
no. if you chargeback you get blacklisted
that’s what i want tho.
As far as i know, if you regret doing that afterwards, you’ll have to pay back the money that you chargeback. An apology won’t be enough to get unbanned. So this wouldn’t be so clever.
What a joke ?
You fucking bought it. The only joke here is you thinking you can get your money back for something you should've read before purchasing it.
Charging back is considered fraud. Fraud is illegal, therefore you will be blacklisted if you chargeback.
Also, this is a common misconception. You didn’t buy anything. You donated. You donated to the network and in return for your donation, you were given a reward as a thank you.
chargebacks are bad :(
if u chargeback ur a bad person :((
this community toxic as fuckkk
ooooookkk. I used to work for a financial services institution that involved testing charge backs for new features we had. I have worked with them alot and have learned a lot about them. There seems to be some misconceptions here that I want to clear up:
Charging back is a service that every financial institution (FI) (banks, credit unions, or card issuers) is mandated to have. Chargebacks are there to protect the consumer from fraud and shady business. Card Not Present (CNP) chargeback, which is when you purchase something with a credit card number online rather than swiping it at a terminal or even using something like Apple Pay, is especially common. Simply charging back is not considered fraud. There are many reasons to charge back, however in the case of the server, the only legitimate reasons for a chargeback would be if a kid where to steal the parents credit card and then the parents want the funds back. This is a perfectly legal chargeback. The other example would be if, for whatever reason, an item was never delivered from the store OR if your account was charged incorrectly. That doesn't really happen so the only common case of legal chargeback that the server would have on a regular basis is unauthorized usage of a card.
Chargeback fraud, or friendly fraud, is when you charge your card for an item, receive item, and then charge the card back, essentially getting the item for free. What the OP is suggesting is considered friendly fraud. The problem is that, when the cardholder (that's you) request a CNP chargeback, CNP chargebacks are very difficult to weed out between legitimate and fraudulent. You can prove that there was an authorized user by getting the CSV code in a purchase online. Some FIs even require that you prove to them it’s you before allowing the transaction. This doesn't always work. In the case of a CNP chargeback claim because of a defective/missing item or incorrect amount, a merchant (the person who is being charged back) get the chargeback rejected / win a dispute IF they can prove that the product was delivered correctly. The burden of proof, however, s on the merchant and is difficult to prove. Because of this, most CNP chargebacks end up going through.
Now, the reason why merchants (That would be IJAH) hate chargebacks is because not only do they lose the money on the product refunded, but they are also assessed a processing fee from the FI (The person issuing the chargeback is more or less protected from getting a chargeback fee). So If I buy a $20 item on the server store and then chargeback IJAH is on the hook for $20 + the $5 service fee.
Having said that, don't try it. Pretty much every online subscription service or store automatically bans any account associated with a chargeback. In addition, chain stores can blacklist your card or even your account from using their service. If I'm not mistaken there are services that can blacklist your card across multiple brands (as in, do something shady on one website, get banned on one you might not want to get banned on. This includes buycraft, which I believe has a service that will ban you from using buycraft on ANY server if the account is reported. This can be true even in cases of legitimate chargebacks. Merchants don't like to service people who cost them money.
Oh, and I should mention that your address and full name is in the possession of every merchant meaning they know exactly who to call if you decide to fraudulently charge back. Your date of birth, social security number (in some cases), and a bunch of other sensitive information is tied to your card. This isn't bitcoin; every online transaction with hard currency has some form of paper trail. Don't do something stupid.
The irony is that "you're donating" is a misconception. It's called a server store. You're exchanging money for goods and services to be used on the server in order to pay for the server. In a steam game, FTP games don’t ask you to donate to them, they offer you perks for whatever. This server is no different. You’re not donating. There is nothing wrong with server running a store.
TL;DR: Chargebacks aren’t fraud. Fraudulent chargebacks are fraud. Regardless, don’t expect any favors from merchants if you chargeback.
