Nah, we laugh at all the doomsday crap. :P Every few years there's another "impending apocalypse" planned that never happens. Waiting to see what the next one is. :P
lol thats not a Mayan prediction. That's unfortunately just analysis of cause and effect and the events going on in the US, and yeah, they've been slowly trying to turn it into a police state. They get dangerously close to pulling it off before they get stopped.
Oh, it's funny. So on new years eve last year, I was sitting with my dad, who works on computers for a living, and we were talking about computers, they had come up for some reason. He was talking about how in 2000 people were freaked out, and HERE'S why: (two posts 'cause it's too big for 1 :3)
All of the date things, like for birthdays on a forums, dates for an event if the computer gives a list of the dates, or even something as big as government automatic data that kept track of things by automatically putting dates in, all of those weren't going to work because all of the basic binary in it was made to be from 1900-1999, so it was a huge panic. (Dang, 3 posts 'cause it's too big o-o)
Well see thats the fun part. It doesn't work that way. If it did, there were lots of other bits of data out there that would have caused problems, yet didn't. :P
Well, apparently it did. My dad works for IT, but at the time did more programming, and for a few weeks he saw a lot of old guys at his work who were doing work in binary because nobody else know how, as they learned the newer and better codes. I don't know if it happened for every example I gave, but for a lot of things, dates were a big problem :P
Except the dates are not the first or only time a lot of 0 would be used, so if those dates would be a problem, so would those things, yet they presented no problem. A troll couldn't break a forum by posting a bunch of 0's lol
not like that, but like this:
When, say, you're signing up for a website. It asks your date of birth, there is the blank to put in a date, but it makes you pick a year, then a month, then a day. The years on everything weren't set for the 2000's yet, and some of them were quite deep in coding, so everything had to be changed. If you want more I'll explain more :3
