Lmao so true. Watched some videos on it and the performance is amazing, and with a price that little compared to Intel's CPUs, they're quite done for. I'm interested on seeing what Intel will do next.
Ryzen 7 will be too expensive for me (300 - 500 USD) but they say Ryzen 5 will compete with Intel Core i5 so hopefully it will save me some money in the summer :)
Ryzen 7 is mostly aimed for higher consumer levels anyway, for things like rendering and powerful video editing. Definitely looking forward to Ryzen 5, I may end up picking it up as well.
Yup, hyperthreading barely benefits games. Nearly everyone I know says "you should go for Intel Core i7, it's better" in which every scenario I need to do a facepalm
Well, now it's actually proven that the Ryzen is better than an i7, so nope, i7s aren't better anymore. Anyway, I just upgraded my GPU to the GTX 1060 3GB and it's damn amazing. I was able to run Battlefield 1 on Ultra at over 60fps with very minimal drops to the 50fps mark due to my CPU. Assassin's Creed Unity runs on Ultra High at 60fps as well, and they both look amazing. It's really worth the money.
Yea, my monitor is actually lower the 1080p (crazy, I know), just by a bit though. I actually am not looking to go higher than 1080p any time soon so yea.
Well then, 4K monitors should be affordable and GPUs that can run games at that resolution should also be affordable. Should really be epic when 4K gaming is the norm. Imagine how good graphics would be then.
I previously told you that I was looking to get Watch_Dogs 2. When looking at some game performance with the GTX 1060 yesterday, it was quite surprising. Even on the 6GB variant, there were stutters on Ultra, making it slightly frustrating. With my GPU and CPU I should only be able to run it at a solid 60fps on Med-High maybe? Other than that it would be around 40-60fps.
Not to mention that the recommended specs for the game almost identically match mine. Quite frustrating because it's actually Ubisoft's fault. The game's PC port wasn't that good. Even on slightly high-end GPUs and CPUs, the game still doesn't run that well, with stutters here and there. I think before we move on to 4K gaming, big companies like Ubi should get better at porting.
About 5 years ago 1080p was high end while 720p was the standard so in 5 years we will definitely at least have 1440p as a standard. The GTX 1080 ti can barely play at 4K, 60 fps and ultra settings in the latest benchmarks. Still going to be damn happy with 1080p though as 720p and 30 fps are the best graphics I have gamed on so far
I think 5 years from now 4K should be the norm, considering that many gamers currently do use 1440p. Technology is advancing so greatly every year, so I honestly can't wait.
Exactly. 5 years from now a GTX 1080 would be a joke. We'd have really good GPUs for 4K gaming that would be budget-friendly I'd assume. Anyway, do you have a specific month that you're planning on starting your build on? You said summer, but when exactly?
I'll start gathering the monitor, SSD, case, keyboard etc. in mid June and will order the last bits when I have received my birthday money (July 9th). Damn I have been waiting since November and I'm only halfway, this takes forever
Although I just bought a new GPU, I'm now planning on building my own new PC. The PC I upgraded is practically a family PC, shared between my siblings and I. So I actually have decided that I'd like to build my own PC, and I'm actually starting out with some work to try and gather up some money as soon as possible. It may happen, it may not, I'll just hope for the best.
I also could just buy a good GPU and put it inside my family's desktop which is quite decent. But that's not going to happen since I will barely (be able to) use that PC and everyone will profit of the GPU and show zero apprecation in return
I have already attempted to play Skyrim on that desktop as my parents said it costed over 1000 euros. I installed Skyrim and when I asked for graphics it recommend low, so, nope. Turns out the PC + monitor + windows + microsoft office = 1000 euros. The PC itself was only 500
Yea what I'm going for is about $1600 including all the extra stuff (monitors and what not). By the way, you could add $100 and get yourself a GTX 1070, might actually be better and would definitely last longer. That's what I'm planning on getting as of now.
Not really
- Most likely not going to be able to afford it
- GTX 1070 is a sweetspot for 1440p gaming, it's overkill for 1080p
- The GTX 1070 costs 475 euros here while you can snatch up a RX 480 for 275
