It means that you're replying to an old thread, making it jump from let's say, the 20th page, to the 1st page. :p

So, for example:
Let's say that the last reply on my application was on January 13th.
It would probably be around the 25th page of the applications (Just guessing).
Now let's say that I wanted to have more views/comments for some weird reason...
I'd reply to the application, even though the last reply was in January, bringing the thread back to the first page.
