What are your opinions on United States involvement in the current ISIS conflict spreading throughout the middle east. My Opinion: I believe that the United States should place boots on the ground in these countries, and assist in defeating a regime that we played an indirect role in stirring. Disclaimer: This is not meant to stir conflict, but instead generate conversation on current topics.
Terrorists started when the US supported the Mujahideen who were in conflict against the Soviets. The US didn't want Soviet influence spreading, so they funded the Mujahideen and gave them weapons. Then events like Iraq-Iran war and Gulf war happened. US gave these people weapons, and now they're using them against us. So in simplicity, the US indirectly created terrorists.
In general, governments have been crappier and crappier imo. It's all about profit nowadays. There seems to be no one trustable these days (except Modi from India, he seems pretty good, and Obama seems to be decent) and corruption is everywhere.
The U.S. did have a hand in creating terrorism, but at the same time the more we intervene in terrorism and countries the more terrorism we create. We created ISIS by kicking out the Iraqian officials. Some of them went and created ISIS. We should only be in the middle east for 1 thing: Protectng our allies. We should only be there to protect Isreal, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, & Iran(And any other countries part of the U.N.), since they dont have a military thanks to the Nuke Deal. The reason I'm saying this is while America is the big brother of the U.N., look at where this disaster of a war got us into. From Afhganistan to Iraq, we have lost hundreds of soldiers and millions of dollars. We are trillions in debt, and we have way too much corruption & police brutality. We have enough problems at home, why stir up more for us to deal with?:
I don't have to make some big explanation. It's simple. I probably will anyway, as per ushe. Too many of the large murder cases and terrorist threats are from lone-wolf terrorists drawn in by ISIS' propaganda. ISIS inspired attacks are happening in the United States. So long as ISIS exists, we are at a constant, increased threat of attacks. On the week before July 4th, the FBI warned about ISIS-inspired attacks possibly happening on our Independence Day. The government hardly gives these warnings without reason, and many suspected that it was based on inside information. As a (possibly mentally) person who has spent his life living in constant fear of mass shootings, kidnappings, and terrorism happening to me, I was petrified when I learned that my summer program was going to the Natuonal Mall that very day. See, this Communications program was in Washington DC. One of my classes was Newswriting, and we had to write an article. I found this to be the perfect time to go out on the streets and find out if people felt the same way. How did they feel? See for yourself. Spoiler Needles to say, I was not alone. Heck, even the Best Buy clerk from whom I purchased a VGA to HDMI adapter in the morning advised me not to go, saying that it was unsafe. No, nothing happened on that day. But that day, the nation lived in fear. Fear that something would happen, and suddenly the day that we usually use to celebrate our independence could be our next 9/11. ISIS may not be directly in our country. But they are within our thoughts. Their presence is felt. They have the means, the manner, and the motive to create chaos in the United States. And scoff at their recruitment methods all you want - they've been working, slowly but steadily, and they're only growing stronger. If ISIS is not dealt with, it shall turn into an ideal that will lock all Americans into a state of fear... and rightfully so. It becomes more of a threat each day that it is not eliminated. The country's next 9/11 will happen some day, that much is nearly inevitable. With ISIS looming closer and closer, that day might become sooner than we think. Point is, regardless of whether we got ourselves into this mess or not, ISIS poses a threat to the security of the United States, and will pose a threat until it is wholly wiped from influence. If we do not do this, they have already won.
