WHATTAYA GONNA DO ABOUT IT?! - Let's talk about "Server Monetisatsation" and what we'll do

Many of you are outraged at this server monetisation. Don't know what it is? Basically, it's a new thing that Mojang is putting into place, and all servers need to do it by August 1st, 2014. Server Monetisation restricts donating a LOT. Things like kits? Nope, can't donate for them. Things like diamond swords in factions? Nope, can't donate for them.

Server monetisation does not let people on servers donate for things that affect gameplay. This might be to make playing on servers more fair. Anything that isn't cosmetic you cannot donate for (When I say cosmetic, I mean things like pets in lobbies or prefixes in chat).

I noticed this on the newest thread on the Mojang website about the general subject. Then, I saw this:

How should servers deal with users who have already spent hard currency (real money) on features that affect gameplay?
Users may keep the perks they've paid for on the condition that the same perks are available to other players on the server (directly or purchasable using soft currency). It’s up to the server host to decide how to compensate users for previous transactions.

When I saw this at first I was confused, then angry, then frustrated, then downright pissed off. I've donated almost 200 dollars to this server! Will this mean that what I donated for was for nothing? What about other people?

Jerry and Harry, how will you compensate us? The only things people can donate for now are cosmetic things. We don't want a prefix or colored chat or a pet to get! We want what we donated for!

What does this mean for the community? For Minecraft?

mojang is frickin stupid

 

As I see it this is a drama/rage thread. I will deal with it when I get home. There are already threads about this. I would advise that you don't make assumptions about how this will be handled. There are lots of ways to make this fair.
