So as some of you may know, I used to play Tf2 quite often. Recently I've gotten back into it again, and one of the most major things I did was trading. So naturally, what do I do to get me started? Check backpack.tf. But when I do, I'm in for a shock: The hell is this? Keys have tripled in price, ref has gone down by over 50%, and even buds, which when I last remember were stable at the 19-20 key mark, have plummeted to almost half their price. Have I missed something important? I'm aware that all the new people are why refs have dropped in value, which is why keys are staying at the same value (+people buy tons from the store), but still, by that logic, keys shouldn't be more than 12 keys! Bet those profit-digging pricks keep selling keys for a raised price, which constantly inflates the price of keys due to demand. Any other TF2 trading analysts here that want to give their insight on this? I'm seriously fearing for the TF2 economy.
Aha. Another fellow trader. I understand your problem very much. It's most likely those greedy traders who want more and more from what they buy. IMO, that's what I think about this. It's the greedy traders. Not the selfless ones.
It's not a problem for me. This actually works in my favour, as I am able to access a lot of keys. But yes, I'm pretty angry with the greedy that are only thinking of themselves, and not the economy. The sad thing is, I only feel like this will be realised by the people and action will be taken when keys surpass a ridiculous price like 30 ref. To give my own little bit of support, I'm going to be selling keys lower than the standard price - 14 keys. Still expensive, but a start. I'm sure it will get extremely popular, people with lots of keys will realise how many sales it pulls in, and hopefully join me, which will end up with the prices gradually coming down :).
Apparently, there's an 'economic crash' incoming, due to the rising price. Slightly ridiculous, that it could all be fixed if valve just added ref to the mann co store, but ofc, gaben doesn't give a shit
