Minecraft What got you...into Minecraft?

Today I got a nostalgia-causing question that will probably cause nostalgia. Well, it did for me.

Surely almost everyone on this forum has played the game of Minecraft at-least once, right? This is a question to all those peeps out there.
What got you into this game? What got you...into Minecraft?

Personally, for me, SkyDoesMinecraft got me into this game. I loved watching his videos, and I kept having that one dream to play that one awesome game he created videos on. Minecraft.
I was ecstatic when I finally got this game, and I am so glad I learned/have it to this day.

Well, that was my story.

Believe it or not, the one that got me into the game was TobyTurner. I used to watch his videos a lot and i saw him play the game. I thought hey why not try this game? so i downloaded the demo of Pocket edition and played it a bit and since then i was hooked. I was given an Account on the PC version and i started playing the game even more.

That's my story on how i got into the game. :)

 

Dude, honestly, Toby was one of the first MC people I watched. I used to love watchin his old survival series. xD

Mine was also SkyDoesMinecraft and his friends. I used to watch his videos a lot, but unfortunately now I don't anymore.

 

I saw my friends playing it in school almost 5 years ago. I copied the game from the school computer and moved it to my main. For about a year I played MC on a cracked version without even realizing it.

When I first played it, I didn't even know how to place blocks so I carved my house out of a mountain. I remember looking at my first creeper and questioned what it does. I was in creative mode so it obviously ignored me.

I went out exploring and lost my "house" aka mountain cave. At the time, Lego Universe had just closed down, so I was upset. I carved the words "RIP Lego Universe" out of the ground and finally figured out how to place blocks.

I remember building my first village and figuring out how to build blocks. I still miss my noob days of Minecraft because of the little town I made. Believe me, it sucked, but it was my little village xD

I finally found my old "house" aka cave, and made the floor out of wool for carpets. After that I deleted the world, and I wish I'd never done that.

 

My friends. Thank god for them introducing me to Minecraft! Look at me now, I'm addicted.

 

SkyDoesMinecraft.. it was around the time that he was actually playing with other famous MC youtubers like deadlox, ssundee, bashur etc.

that is, until these nobodies starting joining him.

whatever, his videos suck now but they were good back then

 

Mine is a bit more interesting.

It started all the way back in 2010, when I saw that Minecraft was available on the Xbox, and I gather money by scraping the barrel for money for the next week, and I finally got twenty dollars to go and buy it.
Around the same time after buying the game, I also started to watch YouTube videos, and I remember watch Paulsoaresjr, (because I was eleven at the time) and I loved his series 'Man vs Minecraft', and it confused me because I was used to the Xbox being at 1.5-1.6 on the Xbox.
So, I figured out that Minecraft was also available on the P.C, which I was completely oblivious to at the time, because I never really had access to a P.C, and the only one in the house was the one my dad had. So I asked him to buy it for me, for another twenty dollars (with me of course pitching in).

I was actually astonished to see all the features 1.10 had at the time, because I have only seen videos which where heavily centered around 1.7 mods, I immediately got used to the controls on PC, and that is how this all started for me, originally a console gamer, then to a PC gamer, then back to console.

 

I watched some different youtubers play minecraft like Jerry and Harry but who really made me want to play was Toby Turner.. I watched his survival series and got super inspired to play.. Asked my cousin who plays (or played) minecraft. He ended up giving me his account. I was ecstatic and was addicted. My parents ended up taking away my account and changing the password and told my cousin that if he gave me the account back, they would call the cops on him. Well I couldn't play for a while and did everything that I could. Ended up finding really good friends online and they got me a brand new minecraft account. And thats how I'm here today!

 

I was swimming with my bro and he was like "yo there's this game called Minecraft" and I'm like "k cool" and then he bought it and I started playing it and that's it

 

So in 2012, I went to visit my sister. Her little girl was playing it and I was like O SHIT THAT SHITS COOL. I didn't actually say that. But you guys get the idea.
I've been hooked since then.

 

I got bored... So I went down to Walmart and bought Minecraft, when I first started playing it tho I knew I wasn't gonna like it so I gave the acc to my bro. Soon, he stopped playing it aswell and gave it back to me, I found out there was a thing called "servers" and that was when I started to play on J&H and that's when I turned into a lazy, sarcastic ass c;

I was never really interested into gaming or electronics until I was four or five. I was going to my babysitter's home for an afternoon, and I saw her with her brother, holding a remote, with bowling on their TV. I realized that they were actually controlling the characters on the TV. They then explained to me that it was a video game console called a "Wii" and that they were playing "Wii Sports". When I got back home, I immediately told my parents about the console. Of course, they did not buy it to me right away, but on Christmas, when I was 6, my parents have bought me a Wii. I just couldn't wait to try it (couldn't try it because I was at my grandparents home). I have been playing Wii and Nintendo DS games (yes I also had a DS) until one day, in 2012, when I was nine, I went to visit my cousin and he showed me this game on his XBox called Minecraft. I loved how the game worked (get materials, build, explore. etc) so I asked my parents to buy it to me. Of course, they would not buy it right away, but on christmas this year, they installed minecraft on my crappy 100$ laptop they had bought me a few months ago. I had a really hard time playing the game (ran at 0-20 fps) so a year later, my mom bought me this laptop that I'm talking about in this thread: an Asus x550CA. The reason why I got this laptop is because I've head on youtube that minecraft ran faster the more ram you have (I knew nothing about cpus and gpus), so I got the laptop with the most ram possible. At first, I was pretty impressed at how well it could handle minecraft (eh, pretty great upgrade; from a 1core 1.2ghz atom cpu with 1gb ddr2 to a dual core pentium cpu 1.8ghz with 8gb ddr3). I've been using this pc as my daily computer since 2013.

My brother playing minecraft, I started playing too. I actually ended up not knowing how to move because of WASD, and I soon learned how to use all the controls. I mostly stuck to creative mode, mainly because something bad happened.

My brother and I had a nice survival world. It was super cool and we were still doing a ton of stuff on it. I loved my ugly mini scraper house and I was still learning a ton of stuff.

And then my PC crashed, and lost all of its information. Literally all, and there weren't backups. I lost the world, and it hit me hard. It also it hit us hard since we had a lot of information on that PC.

We fixed all of the problems and it's doing better now. It's kinda started to get worse, but there aren't any more Blue Screens of Death.

So for awhile I just did creative. My brother mostly stopped playing Minecraft while I continued to learn everything about it. I never really started playing survival until around now, in 1.9 and 1.10. I didn't watch youtubers for awhile.

(And I started in 1.4)

 

Welp, why not. I stopped being interested in Minecraft, so I guess I can just share how it started.

I got myself into Minecraft because of my classmate, he was this nerdy-ass kid who would literally talk any game that is trendy.
One day, he was drawing these Minecraft comics that looked awesome in my 12 year old mind.
Then I started making Minecraft comics as he did, then got myself cracked Minecraft. Which got myself to have a group of friends who is also interested in Minecraft, then later got myself kicked out because I fell in love with the leader of the group.

That's where I first felt true abandonment.
You see, I'm not happy with my life in elementary. I'm always scared and bullied all the time, but I got used to it because I followed the natural law of school when it comes to bullies, "They're just people who are enjoying their own way in life" (In my country)
But that day, that fucking day.
Made me go downwards in life as an 12 year old,
I feel mistrust in people and friends,
I feel discourage on standing for myself,
I felt true fear to myself.

I can't develop true anger,
I can't simply express love in real life,
I can't simply..
feel.

I was treated as a kid with retardation, and you know what kids treat kids with retardation.
Disrespect, made fun of, getting pranked on.
That's what I feel during those times as a normal kid with problems of trying to stand on my own two feet,
and the only source of happiness was this game.

This game,
showed me the internet.
The place where you can do anything, anywhere, anytime, and you can be anyone you want.
As long as you don't say anything about reality.

But that stuff, there's another time to tell that because I'm going off-topic.
Minecraft was a place for creativity for me,
was a place to interact,
make friends.
That's what I got into Minecraft for.
It was once simple for me, but now.
It isn't.
I guess it's either I grew out of the game and move on to another game,
or
It's just I stopped caring people who are killing themselves slowly.

The way I got into the minecraft was actually one of the saddest ways possible. My first dog named tommy who I had for about 3 years and was probably my bestfriend had died so for about the next week all I did was lie down in my bed and just sit there with the sheets over my face I guess my parents got annoyed so I think when they went out to get something from a store the bought the prepaid card in attempts to bring a little joy and at one point I sat up off my bed went to my computer made my account got on and just went onto a single player world and for that brief hour I played probably one of the greatest feelings since I had the freedom to do whatever I so pleased me

 

Dude, I am so sorry for your loss. And that feeling you said you had at the ending of your writing piece, that's probably as close as it gets to what I felt when I first played this game. :P

 

Well, I had been watching a ton load of YouTubers playing it, like LDShadowLady, she mainly got me into it.
I thought it looked fascinating so after a lot of persuasion (I hope that that's spelled correctly XD), my parents, mainly my dad, bought it me.
But, I wanted to play with mods, so that took me awhile to figure out how to download them and yeah, it's then that I got REALLY hooked. XD
