I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and do something special for 2,000 likes.

There's so many dumb replacements for "OMG" and "LOL."

First we had "OMG." It means "Oh my god." The world was normal.
"OMG Becky did u see dat new miley movie is comin out 2moro?"

People got bored of that, and started putting it in lowercase:
"omg becky did u see dat new miley movie is comin out 2moro"

People got bored of real abbreviations, and started using "UMG."
"umg becky did u see dat new miley movie is comin out 2moro?"

What is "umg?" UMG is the Universal Music Group.

How does that sound in context?

First with OMG:
"Oh my god, Becky, did you see that new Miley movie is coming out tomorrow?"

Now with UMG:
"Universal Music Group, Becky, did you see that new Miley movie is coming out tomorrow?"

And now people have gotten bored of even "UMG" and have started using "EMG."
"emg becky like did u like see dat like the new miley movie is comin out 2moro? #mileymovie2014"

What is "EMG?" EMG is short for electromyography, some medical procedure.

Let's see all 3 examples again.

First with OMG:
"Oh my god, Becky, did you see that new Miley movie is coming out tomorrow?"

Now with UMG:
"Universal Music Group, Becky, did you see that new Miley movie is coming out tomorrow?"

Finally with EMG:
"Electromyography, Becky, did you see that new Miley movie is coming out tomorrow?"

Notice what you're saying? If you were talking in real life, you would be talking about a music group and a medical procedure.

"LOL that new Pewds video is so funny xD"

Again, people decided to put "LOL" in lowercase, giving us this:
"lol that new pewds video is so funny xD"

However, things started to get horrible after that. The rise of "LEL" came.
"lel that new pewds video is so funny xD"

What is "LEL?" "LEL" means plenty of things. For this example, it is the ISO language code for the Lele language of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The language's full name is Bashilele.

Let's see those two together again.

First with "LOL."
"Laughing out loud, that new PewDiePie video is so funny xD"

Now with "LEL."
"Bashilele language, that new PewDiePie video is so funny xD"

Next, people starting using "LUL."
"lul that pewds video is so funny xD"

Another abbreviation that means something you don't know you're saying, "LUL" means London Underground Limited, which is the operator of the fantastic London Underground.

Let's see all of those together:

First with "LOL."
"Laughing out loud, that PewDiePie video is so funny xD"

Now with "LEL."
"Bashilele language, that PewDiePie video is so funny xD"

Finally with "LUL."
"London Underground Limited, that PewDiePie video is so funny xD"

If you were talking in real life, you would be telling a language and a train operating company that a video is funny.

And here is what that would look like in real life:

"Bashilele language, bro, it really is."
"Oh my god, stop advertising!"
"Yeah, London Underground Limited, that's against the rules!"
"Universal Music Group, these guys are so annoying right now."
"Electromyography, you're annoying too."

So it's a conversation between players named "Bashilele language," "London Underground Limited," "Universal Music Group," and "Electromyography."

Start using real abbreviations, not random words that you probably didn't even know existed.

If we keep changing these normal abbreviations to make them completely meaningless, we'll end up using this instead of "OMG."

I can see how most of these work easily.
But meh. I'll still use lel for chat.

 

I hate English and its abbrieviations. BTW *ba du ts* shouldn't this go in random spam or off topic?

 

I've decided to see how much umg, lel, etc are used on the forums with a Google search:

omg - 2,370 results
umg - 568 results, a lot of them joking
emg - 40 results, most of them joking
lol - 5,720 results
lel - 1,560 results
lul - can't get, safe search filters it and i'm at school

So you should note that a lot of them are used jokingly (e.g. umg mikrosofy ise btying miekraft its an evl cvorpration!!!!!! itll be worser then teh eula!!1!!!!!!!!!!)
