Earlier today NASA announced that they discovered 7 Earth-like planets in a solar system about 40 lightyears away from us. These planets could have water on their surfaces, and maybe even life.
This article explains it better than I ever could: http://www.vox.com/2017/2/22/14698030/nasa-seven-exoplanet-discovery-trappist-1
Surprisingly I haven't heard that many people talking about this, but what do you all think about it?

I'm really excited to learn more about these planets, and if there is alien life on them, who knows what else is out there in the universe.

My friends and I heard a few days ago that NASA was making a big announcement. We never really anticipated that it would be this huge. It's amazing, discovering 7 Earth-like planets in a system, not too far from our own solar system. Looks like we'll be talking about this for weeks.

Well considering the Kepler solar system (where some other possibly habitable exoplanets are) is like 490-500 lightyears away, TRAPPIST is pretty close by comparison. :p

Relatively, people studying astronomy would refer to this distance as close, considering the size of the galaxy.
