Threads/Posts

Are threads and posts the same thing or different? This may sound dumb but I'm a little confused. Thanks.

 

Threads are like threads. A post is a post on a thread which is what you made. The beginning of a series of posts is a thread. This is a post. You made a thread.

 

Posts= Reply to thread
Thread= A new post/topic in which users can reply to

 

This (What I typed), is a post.
This whole thing, the one that you started, is a thread.
