As I was playing Survival, a topic arose in the chat that Survival should have a reset, or at least to an extent. Therefore, I am making this thread in order to have a civil conversation with everyone, this is more of an opinion on the situation, not much of a debate. Let's get started shall we? "What's the situation?" - There's a lot of controversy over the Survival server, this being wanting a reset, adding a second server for survival, or simply remove inactive* bases and turn them into wilderness. Inactive - Any kind of base or faction that has no activity whatsoever in the last few months. I am aware that said factions do disband when inactivity is a serious issue, but what about the bases? They're left behind, leaving some kind of impact that'll prevent more people to consume more land. Moving onto the possible "Solutions" along with their pros and cons - Survival Reset - Resetting the Survival world entirely is one solution to the argument everyone has gotten into, well at least those who play survival. Although a large portion of the community does want the survival wiped, another portion does not. "What exactly are the pros/cons"? - Here is a list of pros, followed by a list of cons. Pros The world will be reset, meaning there are no inactive bases and factions all over the place This will allow people to set up a base in a location that isn't in a "bullshit" location, as described by some people. The economy of the survival server may be fixed in the process. Cons Players who have paid with real-life cash will lose what they've bought, which is mostly spawners. Everyone will lose their progress on the server, including what they've built up, their farms, and any spawners purchased in-game. People who have worked hard for what they have, mostly in their balance, will completely lose it all. Meaning someone who has dedicated hours on a daily basis to get to five million, now has starting funds. The next "solution" is the following, Reverting inactive bases back to wilderness - Reverting inactive bases does sound like a good idea, and I'm pretty sure there's a plug-in for that too, however some issues may arise along with it. The pros are obviously shown with the solution, so I will only list the cons for this scenario. Cons Anyone who has been inactive due to, let's say, school will lose what they've built. If they aren't an inactive player*, then their base shouldn't be lost to the wilderness and reset to the default portion of the world. Any player who has a faction with buildings past its limits, such as a building extends into the wilderness, will be lost. This'll remove portions of factions unintentionally and might cause an issue in the future. This seriously effects the farms that may be partially claimed. Lastly, let's take a look at another solution. This has been a suggested solution by many, and I believe it should definitely be added in my personal opinion. Creating a second (or more) Survival server - There are absolutely no downsides to this suggestion, at least that I can think of. The pros consist of the following Pros This will not effect the current world, leaving those who would hate a reset in peace. People will all have the default balance People can start up their faction wherever they would like to, instead of traveling wonders to get to a "good location". I will be updating this thread as time comes, I would love your guy's opinion on this and how you see each solution. If you have any pros or cons that can be added to any of the listed solutions, please do so and I'll edit them in.
I actually haven't heard of the idea of adding a new survival server until now. I completely agree with it.
I think we should keep peaceful survival. Factions is a place you really have to worry about resetting. Imagine all those people in survival who worked so hard and are now getting shut down for a reset. Sounds stupid since this is a game, but I spent $10 on survival lmao im not wasting it
