    Points stated in the memo:

    • Steele was considered an unreliable source by the FBI
    • Comey used the dossier despite him calling it “salacious and unverified”, even testified that
    • The dossier was a justification for a FISA warrant for investigation
    • The dossier is derived from information from Yahoo news

    Thoughts?

    • The memo was funded by the Democratic Party under Clinton's presidential campaign.
    • The reason he was considered unreliable was because of his firm bias against Trump's election (he told Bruce Ohr he was "passionate about him not being president").
    • Despite this, Ohr didn't note this in the FISA application.
    • The Department of Justice and FBI lied to the FISA court about the grounds for warrant on Carter Page.
    • The information didn't derive from Yahoo News, because the article was formed from information given to Yahoo by Steele himself.
    • Trump didn't have grounds to terminate the investigation because it wasn't based purely on the Page application. Otherwise, he'd viably claim that Clinton and the Democrats utilised intelligency and law enforcement agencies to damage his presidency.

Could you clarify on the first point? I'm very sure the Nunes memo isn't funded by the Dems, because they didn't want it out at all... unless you mean the Steele dossier.

    EDIT:

Also on the Yahoo news point:

I'm dubious about both the memo and the dossier, as both are supported by people with very obvious partisan agendas.

But I don't quite think the FISA court is stupid enough to issue a warrant to conduct surveillance on an American citizen solely based off a dossier. I think its pretty clear that by this stage Page's contacts with Russian agents were well known (perhaps as far back as 2013, source 1, source 2). I think it is more likely the warrant was issued on this basis.

I think the dossier is simply a media front - something that could probably be easily read and therefore repeated by the media, but I doubt it was a pivotal source in the FISA warrant.

Sources such as WSJ do acknowledge Page had some contacts, and they are well know, but it isn't justification to launch a full on investigation, as stated by these news sites. The democrats treated the memo as the end of the world prior to release, saying "It would lose the American public's trust in the intelligence agencies" but now try to pass it off as nothing. This memo clearly has raised concerns from the democrats, and shows that it isn't some cooked up scheme from the republicans. Several democrats and even Comey himself have referred to the dossier as the reason and justification to start the investigation.

The Dossier was funded by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign, source (from memo):
