Journal Entry #1 What is a perfect world? I have been pondering on that question for hours. I asked my mother, and she said that the world we are in is perfect. I don't understand what she meant. "Alex, a perfect world is a world with no pain, trouble, or conflict." my mother said. I don't know what those words mean. I asked The Officials this as well, and all they said was that this is a perfect world. Later, I tried looking it up. pain pān/ noun 1. physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury. "she's in great pain" synonyms: suffering, agony, torture, torment, discomfort I don't know what suffering is, either. I guess it's some sort of very bad thing that nobody wants to deal with. Everyone is assigned a job here when they turn sixteen. I hope I can be a sports person. I heard that competing in sports is fun. There's only one thing I have to deal with. It is called "Relocation." One day, Joseph complained for losing a game. "It's not fair! They have eight members on their team, while we had three!" The Officials did not tolerate this at all. Unfortunately, he had to make a public apology. Since Joseph politely refused to do it, as he believes it is "human nature", he was relocated to another world. I don't know what that means, but I haven't seen him again. It sounds like a harsh punishment. Despite that, I think that being a sports-person sounds like a fun job. It is enjoyable to watch these games of people seeing how fast they can reach the other side, carrying a golf ball. Yesterday, I tried to tell them about a new sport-competition The Officials should add. It would be amazing if they added this game I would call "Leg Toss." There would be two nets, and two teams. One team tries to use their legs to move a circular device to the other team's net. The Officials rejected it. Adam, a worker of The Officials, told me, "I'm sorry, but I believe this game may cause someone to get hurt. It is too risky in case a ball hits someone, and it leaves a wound." I don't know what a wound is, but is sounds very bad. Next time, I will try to create a game where there is no possibility for these "wounds."
It sounds very interesting. I think this is a really cool and well written story- However, the "not knowing what suffering is" and "being assigned a job" didn't really have any transition, so to speak. I feel like the topic changed too suddenly. Other than that, great job!
