Thread might be a little late to the occasion, but I found some little easter eggs in the new Star Wars I wanted to share with you. Warning, this post contains not only Episode VII spoilers, but spoilers from some Star Wars EU as well. 1. Millenium Falcon Gunner Targeting System. When Finn mans the Falcon, the targeting system is identical to the ones seen in A New Hope, which are manned by Luke and Han. The targeting system has a red background with 2 yellow grids, and also sounds identical to the ones in Episode IV. 2. Space Chess Aboard the Falcon, Finn activates a hologram of a board game, which is the exact same one seen in Episode IV, which is the same game Chewbacca and R2D2 play against each other. 3. T-17s When Rey is hiding from the Stormtroopers on the Starkiller Weapon, the Stormtroopers are heard talking to each other about "the new T-17s". This is a reference to a conversation from Episode IV, when Obi-Wan is deactivating one of the Death Star's tractor beam terminals. When he does this, there are two Stormtroopers guarding the entrance and are heard saying "Hey, did you hear about the new T-16s? The others say they're quite a thing to see." 4. Starkiller Weapon The name of the weapon is a nod to the Sith apprentice of Darth Vader, Starkiller, from Force Unleashed. Also, the Starkiller Weapon's function bears resemblance to the Sun Crusher's function. 5. Kylo Ren/Ben Solo Kylo Ren is shares resemblance to Jacen Solo, who is Han and Leia's child in the EU. Both are trained in a new Jedi Order by Luke Skywalker, and turn to the dark side, destroying Luke's work. Both kill important people from their earlier lives, with Kylo Ren killing Han Solo, and Jacen Solo killing Mara Jade Skywalker, Luke's wife. 6. Han and Chewie's switched roles In Episode VII, Han Solo is killed. In the Extended Universe, it is in fact Chewbacca who dies, while saving Anakin Solo (Han's youngest son) and Han Solo from the Yuuzhan-Vong, who plunged a moon onto the planet where Chewie was on, killing him. Chewbacca had an Anthology released in 2000 to commemorate the death one of the most beloved Star Wars characters. Now, it is Han Solo, instead, who will be getting an Anthology for him next year. Post any extra easter eggs I missed.
