Alright, so this is going to be a really short and sweet thread. I've been noticing a lot of staff applications are made by people who are brand new to the forums. It seems like they are just creating a forum account for the sake of making an application. Is there a reason for that? I'm not making drama or suggesting a new rule be implemented, I'm just really curious to why this is becoming so common.
Well it's a common sense sort of thing. If you think about it. People notice we are hiring more helpers lately, therefore they will get curious as how to get it. Once they ask we tell them to apply at the forums. Which leads them to create forum accounts just for their application and not exploring the forums overall. Although this doesn't mean we will chose them. We know we need to hire people both active forums and in game. There's no need to fear someone new with inactivity on the forums to be chosen over you if you know you're active in both areas.
Hmm, well I do believe that new members shouldn't be speeding to the staff ranks, especially if they created a forums account just for the sake of it. It would make sense for them to get to know their boundaries and background on this server before rushing to become a staff.
What if they are a veteran but they just don't have a forums account? :p Most people make a forums account in the first place to make an application, then get known throughout the community via their forums account. I really don't see anything wrong with this.mits not like they're doing any harm
I've actually played on this server for a few months, but I never bothered to make a forums account. After I did some poking around, I realized this server did accept staff applications. This does happen to be my most favorite server, so I thought I'd make my first thread a staff application. I would love to help this server out as much as possible :D
I am one of those guys. I didn't have a forum account until December 12. That's also the date I applied as a staff member. After that I became more familiar with it, and posted a lot more messages. I do agree with @Kuzon55 that new members should not be chosen over the helpful people that are playing for much longer, but staff handles it pretty well, in my opinion. I mean, have you seen a just-joined-member getting staff immediately? I don't. What I also think, is that the applications with one sentenced anwsers should be denied much quicker, to get a better list of open applications. I understand that I'n not in the position to decide this, because I don't know if there is need to take a look at the applications.
I was playing for months befor I made a account on the forums. I wanted to join to make a app for helper.. Still waiting but if being new to the forums plays a role in not getting the job I will understand.. But I'm still waiting :)
The reason I wanted to make my profile a year ago was to apply. A lot of people actually does screate their account because they want to become staff on the server
Honestly let them be. If someone new decides to make a staff application they have the right. Its like saying the real SkyTheKid comes and makes a staff application,Because he's famouse alot of people are going to have his support on his application. Same thing for a new member, its not that they might not be known but they might have a chance. Famouse or not anyone has a chance to apply and get accepted.
Would you rather that or spare them the pain they'll feel when they get denied? Just an opinion here, don't you think players should figure out their boundaries first? Sure they're new to the forums but known on the server, but it's more than just playing on the server. A new account to the forums means a new member. What if they haven't read the guidelines for the forums? All for that opiate. The lure of profit, in this case, staff.
