I mean, starting a server is fairly difficult.

J&H are experienced with custom plugins, as most of the server's plugins are custom. Its really a matter of experience.

Setting up a playerbase is insanely difficult, as most people just join new servers for staff. If you dont get staff then you leave.

Bugs: Most bugs are solved by the developer by editing the code, and as J&H are writing their own plugins in java, they can mainly solve their own bugs. However, with plugins like essentials md_5(creator of essentials) can solve the bug by editing the code.

By dossing im guessing you mean ddosing. Get ddos protection, or get hosts that come automatically with ddos protection.

Also, for running smooth. It depends on where you live, and if youre close to where the server is located. Its all about ping. For better and stronger servers, it really depends on the amount of RAM you allocate to it, and the processing power of the server.

    • You need to know what Java is it is possibly the most important software besides your OS.
    • Don't use vanilla minecraft unless you are just hosting some adventure maps use Spigot instead (Not Bukkit as it does not have a 1.8/1.7-1.8 version)
    • Get some basic plugins - Essentials, PermissionsEx etc. and spend time doing perms.
    • Don't give new staff tonnes of perms just a few. The less the better.
    • Get a decent CPU. Everyone says RAM is important but you could have 100GB RAM but an Intel Atom Proccessor your server will still run laggy.
    • Find a host that suits your needs and stick with it.
    • Balance donations and payments. Don't go for the MCProHosting Bedrock plan when you only get $10 a month.;
    • Don't overuse an idea - No we do not need the 1000th prison server.
These are the things that most successful servers use long with what Noah said. Basically starting a server is hard without decent youtuber support (Most famous servers have someone 'famous' behind them). That's everything I got.

Something id like to say about the above statement.
For beginners its a lot easier to use groupmanager rather than pex.

Like Noah and Diamond said, it's hard at first, but it's OK as it goes on.

    Tips:
    - Choose some simple plugins. There's no point having a plugin which gets you to go into console and set everything from scratch. Plugins like essentials, groupmanager and WorldEdit are easy to use and install.
    - Choose staff wisely. It's easier to have people you trust as staff than people you can't.
    - Only give the permissions you need. There's no point giving an admin WorldEdit if they're not gonna use it.
    - Get what you can afford. Like Diamond said, there's no point getting a MCPH bedrock plan if you can't afford it.
    - Don't keep swapping hosts. One or two times is great, but if you keep doing it, it'll cause more stress for the server, and for you.
    - Spigot is recommended for most things, but bukkit works too. Spigot is strongly recommended though.
    - Don't go fully original. Original is good, but some mini-games can not be original.
    - Basically what Diamond and Noah said as well.
