So, I made a confessions thread back in summer. I kept one to myself. (Yeah, way to go me.) So, here it is. It's staff-based. Whenever someone gets promoted, everyone gets all happy and stuff...right? Well, I do. For an hour. Then, I fall into this glum mood. A bit later, I start to cry, wondering why I'm even doing anything. Why is this? I need help. I guess I'm envious or something...but at the same time, I don't think I am, since I always treat people how they are and congratulate them for anything they've done. There you have it.
Lol okay So basically when someone gets staff everyone acts all happy but really they're all jealous because they want it. It's fine to feel envious of someone everyone has felt envy at least one time in their life.
It's normal to feel envious of that. I don't want to be staff anymore, but I used to. People will treat you differently if you become staff, and that's not something to be envious of. I personally think you would be a great staff member because you are really smart and kind. But, you don't need to become one. Being staff isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Staff have thought about, and have resigned in the past. For me, I just don't see a great "gain" there. You don't need to feel envious, you are a great person. If anyone is be envious it should be them envying you!
Meh, depends how you feel about the person BEFORE promotion. Of course you won't feel the same about every promotion.
That's totally fine in my opinion, crying might be a slight overreaction but who am I to talk I cry like every day Such manliness, but anyways don't sweat it you're fine.
I was a bit envious too... when YFIOTR and RocWolfTheHunter (not tagging for a reason) were accepted, I wanted more and more for a New Member to bump my app xD
Of course, I get annoyed but not envious. I don't and probably never have, been that into other person's lifes. Why do I get annoyed? Well, some don't deserve it. Some people I know have been excellent to get the job but they don't get it. Well, that's not my problem anyways.
I'm sure you're not the only one, I'm fine with the promotions and I'm happy for them and all but everyone has the right to feel a different way about it c:
I'm not sure why a lot of people wanted staff SO much, up to the point they envy those who got promoted. Not to be offensive or anything, but being a staff means you have to work. And it's not that kind of work where you get paid, you're doing this voluntarily. To those who wants to be staff just to get attention, stop. You're seriously lowering your image. Being a staff means dedication. It shows how dedicate you are to helping players and enforcing rules on the server. Not only that, being a staff also means you're carrying the server's image. Most players want to play on a server with helpful and friendly staffs, staffs who they can look up to and follow in their footsteps. Basically, you're a role model to everyone else as a staff. This is because staffs are suppose to be mature, intellectual people who goes on the server to moderate it. So, you have little time playing games or chatting with friends because of the duty you're assigned to do. (Unless you can multitask :P). You also have to be active on the Forums to check on reports, TS in case there's a meeting or if any staffs wants to discuss on a matter, and the server as well and it can be time consuming. You might get finger-aches from ALL THAT TYPING! XD. Now, being a staff is a serious job. It's not a job that's all "sunshine and rainbows". This is why IJAH only looks out for players who they think are fit for the job. Not only do they read their app, they also test player's personality. (Bear with me, okay?). I don't really want to say you're a bad person nor a bad staff. But if you take a moment to think; is this what you really want? Are you capable in doing all these things? Do you have the mindset to be the best staff you can be? Can you take the stress or the pressure? Regardless, if you KNOW you can do it and applied for it, I wish you all the best on your application!
Um... Really? I think we know that staff isn't to fool around and it's a volunteering job. Plus, this didn't seem like it didn't have anything to do with this conversation... Plus, people envy because we're human. We have feelings and emotions, and we can express them.
I know some people knows about how important being a staff is, I'm just saying this to those who didn't see how important being a staff is and just applied because he/she wants attention.
Simple. Having a staff rank = power. That's what everyone new thinks. I haven't met a person who initially doesn't want power, but that tendency can be ruled out, anyway.
