I have been kinda on the verge of cracking lately. I was recently at my park with some kids and two friends of mine. One of my male friends, let's call them Terry, wanted to go on the teeter-totter. I happily went on with him, since he's like 130lbs. and the only other person was 180+. I was, last time I checked 140 two months ago. When I got on, I flew. That means that I've lost about 10-20 pounds in two months, which is not healthy. I usually don't eat lunch on weekdays because I don't need to, it takes too much time to get, and I have practice for scholastic bowl. I sometimes miss dinner, but only when we go out, and even then, sometimes. I have tried to exercise more and all that, but nothing works. I am about 30 lbs overweight for my age. I also have a very low hormone and metabolism thing. Idk. Should I be happy or sad?
Well, try to state some more information. Like, what age you are. That could help in a response. For my thoughts, losing weight is usually good, only if you need it. But, sometimes it can mean some worse things.
Well, a tip is to stop skipping meals. You should be having 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you don't, you won't have enough energy, etc to go through your day healthily. Skipping meals contributes you to binging on a bunch of food at another time and that leads to weight gain. Try cutting down on things that have too many calories or grams of fat. Also, when you feel like you want a snack, take a good portion and it doesn't always have to be something like chips or whatever. Try buying a bunch of fruits and having little mini fruit salads when you get hungry in between meals or you're just craving a chew. Also, working out helps. If you can't get a gym membership (cuz same,) what I like to do is just run around my neighborhood. It's fun and I do it almost every morning. Make sure you stretch though, so you don't hurt yourself.
Thanks! We have lunch at 11:30, so I'm never hungry. I'll usually eat on the bus at 3:30, then have dinner at 7:00. Exercise is difficult due to living in rural Illinois. I walk around the town about once a week. I usually don't intentionally skip meals, it just happens. I'll be mad or sad and avoid everyone and thing.
Same, my lunch at school is pretty early too because there's 3 different blocks for each third of students in my school. (Lots of people.) I still eat though, or try to eat a bit. I usually have a light breakfast, like a banana and some yogurt. This helps me save space for lunch. I know how you feel about that, I lived in Qatar and the place is practically a desert, so I had nowhere to exercise or go for jogs. I just joined a lot of the school sports teams and had my dad sign me up for a basketball team. It's pretty fun and has it's perks. I can also understand what you mean about emotions clouding your thoughts. When I'm upset, sometimes I don't want to do anything either. I force myself to though, because some things are way too important to skip. AKA, your meals.
Do NOT miss a meal, under any circumstances. If your body is does not get its nutrients, it will start eating out your muscles. My friend skipped lunch in school for a few months, and he became weaker, as his muscles weren't as strong.
Thanks for all the help guys! I'll take everything into consideration and make a list. I know that I'm not the only one with weight problems on here, so continue if you wish.
When you hit pubety, which I assume you are around that age, I believe you do start losing weight. It may be because you are skipping meals, but if you don't need to lose weight they is a problem and you may want to go see a doctor about it.
Yea, I did, but the thing is that I have like the lowest metabolism, so it hasn't changed over like 7 years.
I suggest vitamins. Not only are they healthy, but they can help with weight loss/gain, AND they can help with other stuff, too. You can usually get vitamins for people going through puberty, and they are available in most pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. If this doesn't help, talk with a doctor. They can probably suggest certain foods and exercises that help with this sort of thing.
I usually use women's vitamins with all the nutrients and stuff, and calcium since my knees are weaker than the norm and I don't really eat that much dairy.
You should feel happy for yourself for who you are. Lately I have the same experience as you not eating much. But my parents say at this age I should be eating more to keep up all those stuff in your body.
I am not exactly the healiest person out there either. I'm about 160 lb and for my age I do not think that is a good thing. I usually do not eat lunch nor breakfast because I am generally not hungry around that time, or I just forget too. I'm not exactly fat, but not exactly healthy either, considering that I am taller than my mom by now. But yes, I feel you there. Exercise for me is almost a no-go because I really have nobody to talk to outside my own house, yes, I have friends but we rarely see each other. Even if we are about 18 minutes away, it is illegal to walk on a highway, and my neighbors are not the best people either. We have a treadmill in my house, but I barely even know how to run the damn thing and I can rarely use it because somebody in my house is always asleep, and it is loud as you could imagine, and also I have to get permission to use it anyway. I am also a very picky eater, and I am not a big fan of fruits nor vegetables. I do however like apples and watermelons, but my parents never buy them at the grocery store, I might ask next time though. I am not very social, and my self esteem could be better, and I also am not good with my emotions. I have a very hard time crying, and I am easily irritated. Not a good mix. The only emotions I feel is happiness, anger, if I happen to have a crush love, and a blank emotion I cannot desribe. I am very hard to get down, but that is technically a good thing because it is better than being overly sensitive to things. Another good thing is that I am very smart for my age, as I even understand politics, and I am good at everything at school, except math. I am also not that great at geography, but not terrible either. I absolutely hate biology, English is fine, History is great because I enjoy it. I also know a lot about recent world history. That is basically me in a nutshell.
