ISON made it!

As the comet zoomed around the sun, people doubted it would make it. But new images from NASA/ESA's SOHO spacecraft show that ISON might still be alive, and that this might actually be the comet of the century.

Those things that come out of the sun, are those explosions?

They're CMEs (coronal mass ejections.) They're massive clouds of very thin gas ejected from the sun.
