I just got called a "Weeaboo"

Only because I had an anime Profile pic

(FYI I am part Japanese)
EDIT: I think I have some people confused, I'm not a weeaboo, I was only called that because of my profile pic (above) which I was deeply offended by

 

They're just jelly because they can't find anything better to do than make fun of people.
I think people should have the right to enjoy whatever they want without being made fun of.

 

Don't worry, whenever I play CS:GO at my friends' houses I get called a 'P90 Weeaboo fag'
(The P90 is a highly accurate SMG with a high rate of fire that gets kills easily, which is why I like pissing people off when using it)

I love anime and manga, but mostly because I'm into art, and my friends are into it.

I dont get why people make fun of others interests, its plain rude. How would you like it if i made fun of what you liked and called you a ridiculous name? You wouldnt be happy now would you?

I enjoy japanese culture but people have no right to discriminate others. :L

A weeaboo is a person that pretends to be Japanese and at the end makes fun of himself. I don't know ANYONE here who does that in these forums so knock it off.

Weeaboos are just people who like anime and japan. A quarter of my friends are Japanese. And my favourite t.v show is SAO

So don't let people call you something your not.

To those of you wondering,

there is a BIG difference between someone who enjoys anime/manga/japanese culture and someone who becomes too obsessed with it to the point that they identify as Japanese because they like its culture so much. There are certain behavioral standards that differentiate between an anime fan and a weeaboo.

When is it okay to call someone a weeaboo?

• never. (unless a rare case if they are a self-proclaiming themselves as a weeaboo without sarcasm,but it's still safe not to call them on it)

When is it not okay to call someone a weeaboo?

• it is NEVER okay to insult someone based off of their interests. Weeaboo is an INSULTING word and it should not be used even as a joke because it hurts those who just want to enjoy a medium without being made fun of.

 

I don't really think that being called a Weeaboo is an insult??? Me and my friends call each other "f***king weebs" as a joke and I thought that people have just accepted it as a meme. I may be wrong though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

It is often used as a joke between close friends (like some of my friends and I) , but calling someone a weeb because of a profile picture is an insult.
