(Please don't say "Oh eli is making another thread about Gerard, no this is not what that's about)This is also a very sensitive thread, so please don't leave any rude comments or start flame. So, yknow it's 9/11. (Not a holiday or anything but it's a big day in American history). I give thanks to all of the people who helped out during, and after. I feel so sorry for the innocent lives lost, and I really mean it when I say that. I also feel sorry for the families. As I was only 2 years old, I remember what happened that day. I was sitting in my living room, my driveway was being put in, and it was only me and my grandpa. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but I was like 7 when I actually found out what really happened, why, and the major details. I know someone who actually witnessed it on a ferry on their way to the city.
I'm deciding to share one of my favourite songs, it's about 9/11 mostly and was written right after the event happened. The song would lead to something great.
    (please listen to the song)
"You're not in this alone, let me break this awkward silence."
I imagine at first Gerard is saying to himself you're not the only one you felt so bad others have people that they love in inside of those two buildings so figure how they feel and then he gets inspired to write this song by breaking his silence about the whole event.

"go on record, be the first to say I'm sorry. Here me out"
go ahead and record this song and others who listen to this song will hear how sorry he is for what happened and telling them to just shut up and listen to what he has to say.
"and if you take me down would you lay me out"
if I die will the world and the people in it lay me to rest in peace.
"and if the world needs something better, lets give them one more reason now"
i kind of think that he is being sarcastic saying that the world does not need war to live in peace.
"we walk in single file we light our rails and punch our time ride escalators colder then a cell"
is describing the people who worked in those building and saying that they did not deserve to die they were just working and did not do anything wrong.
"this broken city sky like butane on my skin stolen from my eyes"
describes the feeling how Gerard felt by watching the building go down and the bodies falling.
"hello angel tell me where are you tell me where we go from here"
is about how people in the building who had a chance of survival were praying and crying out to the angels and asking where to go.
"and in this moment we can't close the lids on burning eyes"
by lids I think he is talking about eye lids and you can't just go to sleep and shut your eyes because you see disaster behind them them.
"our memories blanket us us with friends we know like fall out vapor"
that the people who had survived the tragedy and the people who saw it happen after the tragic affair people then felt comfort and then there are times were people still look back on that day and mourn.
"steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun, scorched and black,"
i think the steel corpses are the statues they made for the people who died from the event or the tomb stones that they now have.
"it reaches in and tears your flesh apart as ice cold hands rip into your heart"
is saying how upsetting I is when you look at the the statues or their tombs.
"that's if you still got one last left inside that cave you call a chest"
i think this line is addressed to binladdin or what ever his name is. That how can such a person can do things like this knowing that he would be the cause for someones death.
and it can be addressed to the people who don't feel bad about it.
"and after seeing what we saw, can we still reclaim our innocence"
a lot of Americans felt guilt and so this line is asking will this feeling ever go away. cause people felt sorry even when they had nothing to do with it.
"and if the world needs something better let's give them one more reason"
I think this is probably the most important line and the second time he sings it makes it have a different meaning then when he said it the first time.
when he sings in the second time he sounds more angry then sarcastic
and wanting to make a change in the world by touching others with his music.
Gerard actually quit his job to make this song/the band. He was the one on his way to the city on a ferry. G witnessed it happened.
It's a very important song to me, and many others.
If you have any questions about the song, or what I know about the event; feel free to ask me.
