Forbidden Memories?

I have found myself bored and alone on a holiday weekend. Nothing is wrong, just the current circumstance.

@Jordan brought up 2014-18 being a fever dream on another thread and he couldn't be more accurate.

Everyone needs to talk about something they remember in that time here that doesn't seem real that we all know about but never were provided the space as adults to truly digest and process together.

We all have a random memory.

Spoiler: Mine

Mine is that large Skype call in which Pacers mom joined and made some allegations both true and untrue about the treatment of her son on the server. I found that to be a wildly entertaining experience but remember zero, even vague, details about it.

Honorable mentions: the April fool's prank. Wtf were we thinking? lmao; of course the ice cream thread which they definitely should make public, and I don't remember the administration before daorack at all

i remember watching this unfold and it being the funniest shit ever

i was mostly staff during the 2014-18 time period so it was always fucking hilarious watching staff tryhard to be the first to claim reports like getting promoted to mod was like entering the gates of heaven or some bullshit. saad/fuuk/other ddoser minecraft gangster drama was funny too like seriously get a fucking life and stop terrorizing 12 year olds on a minecraft server

dick tape videos were always awesome to make with all my old friends despite the threads getting deleted!

also met my now fiancee on the server during that time period so that is cool and epic

 

Daoracks rants were one, dude was crazy, even though I failed to see it at the time.

However the one memory I have from this forum was the time somebody faked a death as a prank, I'm not sure the details are fuzzy on that one.

There's been a lot of truly horrific stuff that had come from here that I still sometimes think about and realize "Damn, that was messed up."

 

I have an analogy for this that would most certainly get me warned pm me if interested it's funny lol

one time the lobby spawn changed like 3 times within a 15 day period and this community voted on which one should remain
one time every single staff logged onto peaceful survival
one time warnings were handed out because of emojis being sent in the shoutbox
one time all of the creative servers crashed for HOURS and everyone was in the lobby
one time I was playing OITC and I got mad and hit a bottle of sprite sitting next to me and it completely ruined my laptop
USER IN YOUR CHANNEL WAS BANNED FROM THE SERVER

Something I learned from this place is that sometimes you shouldn't elaborate further and sometimes people are having a hard day or life and decide to be rude. Be cool

 

Unfortunately I don't even remember what it was at this point hopefully it comes back because I recall it being fucked up but funny lol

Having a full Teamspeak lobby with everyone muted but just me, Jerry and Harry bombarding the shit it out of one player for causing ungodly amounts of drama and making him cry before perma-banning them.

this. honest question: did any staff add it their CV or leverage the position to better their lives professionally or otherwise? no to both for me but i still did reports zealously when I definitely had better things to do

Speaking for myself, most people seemed to take it very seriously in the first promo round, but then if they resigned and rejoined, rarely was that energy matched or exceeded. Probably because, like everything else in life, the charm is temporary and eventually gets mundane due to whichever circumstances. most voluntary resignations just had to do with staff getting bored and moving on, even if it was framed more elegantly. just like real jobs. it was probably decent practice in basic reporting to superiors, a skill kids seem to lack now. beside that, 10-15 years after the server has closed, the most value will be fun memories

a server veteran answered the question ~2014 as to whether staff get paid, "only the good ones"
