    ~Chapter 1~
    Royal Camp
Flare wasn't exactly happy about Royal Camp.

Unfortunately, since he was the first born son of Queen Sapphire, he was sent here to learn the training of how to be the King of the Fire Kingdom. He didn't get this political nonsense and how to avoid being assassinated. The only thing that Flare truly enjoyed about the camp was his friends, the fellow royal heirs of the other kingdoms.

I'm a normal dragonet. Why do I have to be part of this camp? he thought.

But he had no time to wait and see. He was always on guard, because of the sneaky teachers. Every five minutes he'd have to take a peek behind him to make sure Starlight, the combat teacher, wouldn't fire a paintball gun from behind and rant about how he should be careful about assassins attacking him.

"Flare." Spike said. "Do you know when Golem will be back to give us lunch?" Spike's stomach flinched, because he got hit by a paintball gun last night, from Starlight, of course. His punishment for being off-guard during combat training that day was being forced was his breakfast for the next day to be revoked.

"I HEARD THAT!" Starlight yelled. "I don't get why these dragonets are so eager for combat training to end during lunch time."

"Anyways, for the rest of you, we're going to have a game of paintball. Winner gets an extra pig during lunchtime."

A pig? Flare thought. I could probably eat a whole whale. I could probably eat the whole moon if it were made of cheese, too.

"Spike, you're disqualified for talking like that."

"WHAT!" The smile on Spike's face quickly faded.

Flare equipped his gear quickly. If it involved food prizes, Flare would always be right on top of it. Especially food-eating contests. He always was the best at those. While the others reluctantly put on their hats and loaded their paintball guns, Flare was practicing his aim, silently mocking the others.

"Grace period for 90 seconds. Get to your hiding spot, and when the bell rings, the firing may begin!"

Flare flew up to a tall tree. He picked a layer which hid him well, then got ready for war.

    And so the fight began.

    ~Chapter 2~
    Art of War
    Chills grew on Flare's spine.

Why am I taking this so seriously? This was a camp, not a war site.
Immediately after that thought, paintballs were being splattered all around him. Flare flew down to the bushes, and hope his face wasn't covered in rainbows after he opened his eyes. He could see Thorn, the grass dragon, heir to Queen Orchid. Flare knew something about a lesson on grass-dragon abilities, but the lessons about grass-types always ended up before dinner, so none of them sank in.

Out of thin air, a paintball popped up. He ducked, then fired a paintball at Thorn.

"Please don't shoot me Thorn!" Flare said. "I need that extra pig!"

A faint sound of giggling, then hardcore laughter sprang up, so Flare took the opportunity. He fired 10 shots with his paintball gun with all of them missing.

Thorn sneaked up with her ability to camouflage into anything. He felt a blast, then knew that the shot fired by her hit Flare.

"Nooooo!" Flare shouted, proceeding with the sound of faint giggles everywhere.

He then walked to the bench, where Spike and Buzz, the sky dragonet, were grumpily sitting down on the shame bench.

At least I'm not the first out, I feel bad for Spike and Buzz. I also feel hungry! he thought.

"Buzz, do you wish you could escape this camp?" said Spike.

"I'd love to. But of course, we can't do that. Besides, I have a reputation to hold." she replied.

Finally, Starlight announced the winner, which was Thorn, like always. She'd taken the dragonets out one by one with her ability to disguise as grass.

    "Not fair!" Aqua said.

"It's not like you have an appetite as big as Flare's" Spike said sarcastically, scratching his wings on the back.

"Hey!" Flare shouted, fumed by Spike's joke.

Golem, the second teacher, came back with a feast of cows, pigs, and chicken. Aqua barely ate a chicken, while Flare consumed about 60% of all the food on the table.

When the dinner table became as empty as a bowl, the dragonets headed off to the next camp; the dreaded Power Training

Why do we even do power training? Golem always forces us upon things we can't do until we're older, then rants and raves about us being so weak. I wonder how my mom felt about Royal Camp when she was training.

Thorn still lacks the ability to camouflage into anything, like her parents could. She could only camouflage into grass or flowers. She could easily lose in a sky battle, but I was too dumb to realize that until now.

Aqua was a water breed dragonet. She was able to breathe underwater and turn small sources of water into ice. Well, that's what she was supposed to do. Aqua could only breathe for an hour underwater, and couldn't make any water freeze.

Spike could only move rocks and change dirt, sand, and gravel into stone. I guess he is pretty talented at it, but those are pretty boring powers to begin with.

Buzz could fly longer than anyone else. But she can't use her thunder powers until next year. I guess Golem is pretty dumb not to know that. I'm not sure of it, but I think sky type dragons also have a huge brain capacity.

And me? Well, I can breathe fire and resist other fire attacks, but I still can't use my tail that can light up or set enemies on fire.

But of course, the things we can't do are things Golem forces us upon.

The many thoughts with no answers circled around Flare's head with no answers. It looked like Spike had the same thoughts as him, but he couldn't tell.

"Alright Buzz. You can go sit down where Flare is, little cupcake." taunted Golem.

"And Flare, time for you to come up here. Please don't whine about food this time, okay?"

"I do not!" replied Flare, furiously steaming up his talons.

After a long argument with Golem, Flare finally gave in and started training. Golem sighed as Flare kept on failing on melting a piece of iron. Then he failed to use his fire to push him up, and tried to cheat by using his wings.

The lessons about the dragon world, known as Aspergia, were taught by Torrent, the third and probably the nicest guard, according to Flare. Though, the best part was Flare being able to gossip about the other guard dragons when Torrent only focused on teaching Buzz, because of her brain capacity.

"Psst, Aqua." said Flare. "Wasn't Starlight so stupid today? It's like fired a paintball at his nose and it stuck up to her brain.

Aqua scratched her wings. "I know, right! Yesterday he was scary, but today he was probably drank that cactus juice again."

    Giggles spread throughout the class.

"Hey!" Thorn said "Please shut up! I'm trying to listen, you know"

After that, Flare fell half asleep until he smelled beef, meaning dinner was here. It was a quick one, however.

What they didn't realize is a very strange figure was looking down at the dragonets.
