How to make colors in books on Vanilla minecraft,
no mods or add ons: If you're on windows, copy+paste this.
§ It's called the section sign. If you're on mac then
press alt / option + 6. Paste your § into a book
and write 4. Then write something next to the 4. 4 Is dark red, you can look up on the wiki "Formatting Codes" if you need to. ​

 

As well, I know how to talk in colored chat on singleplayer. Type the command "/tellraw @a {text:"ExamplePls",color:dark_blue}. Your message shall be typed in Blue.
Your message will say "ExamplePls" in a very dark blue color. This works with any light + dark color.
You need to type an underscore ( _ ) to make the color work though:
Examples of color names: dark_red red yellow dark_blue aqua.
