    Hello!
I'll make this short. I usually upload two chapters per thread, but I need to make it one this time. I will try to go back to my normal routine. If you want to read the earlier chapters and the prologue, the links are in my information page on my profile. Enjoy.

    Chapter 5.

I wake up normally, for once. I go over to the remaining ashes of last night’s fire, and believe it or not- all I can see is ash.
After looking at the destruction of the fire-pit, I just walk around inside the hall. I’ve never seen it this quiet, even before the Apocalypse.
After walking around and looking, I feel the need to go do something. I almost forget that the “election” is scheduled for today, in the afternoon. I walk over to the staircase, and press a secret button. I’m the only one who really knows about this. An elevator appears out of nowhere, and takes me down to the basement.
When I arrive, I am shocked to see someone right in front of me. She speaks in a quirky voice, “Hello Daniel!”
I stutter due to being scared half to death, “H-Hi?”
“Don’t you know who I am? Meh, sometimes I think that most of us are ignored when you’re all caught up with your drama act.”
    “Drama act” I ask.
“Yes, a drama act.” She walks over to the bookcase and grabs a book that’s surprisingly in good condition. She shows it to me, and it reads ‘How to deal with Drama.’
“Wha-what?” I say confused as I look at the book.
“Ah, Daniel my friend. Sometimes this little thing gets the best of us. I can tell-from past experiences I mean.”
“Look, Kaili, if this is about Ryder and myself and that little argument we had recently, it’s not drama. We’re…” I start to think if we are causing useless drama after all. “We’re just trying to cooperate, or coexist with each other.”
    “I can tell.”
“Look, let’s just leave that topic elsewhere. What I want to know is why you’re down here. Heck, how do you even know this is here?”
“I know a lot more than you think, Daniel.”
“You still haven’t answered my question.”
“Simple. I found a handbook of the layout of this structure. This passageway was on the first page, actually.”
I stroke my slight beard, as I remember leaving the handbook out a couple days ago-whilst looking for some things with the structure of the hall.
“So, now that you have asked your questions, can I ask mine?”
“Try to answer my second question first, then you can get a shot at me.”
“Fine. I’m down here to research what caused all of this.”
I take a deep breath, and keep my calm. I hadn’t thought about the incident in quite the while-I wasn’t ready to talk about it right now.
    “Here, come with me.”
I followed her and took a seat, while I saw her go through all the books. I could already feel myself getting anxious, but I kept my calm.
She finally finds it, and gives it to me.
Note, I should’ve said this earlier. Most of these helpless civilians haven’t even heard of this town before the apocalypse started. We all ended up here by fate;that’s what some say. Kaili was one of the ones who ended up here.
She pulls the book open, and shows me a name.
“Some guy by the name of ‘Mark Glowstead’ wrote this.”
As Kaili goes on, I can feel my heartbeat raise. I can feel the sweat running down my neck, and my eyes dart back and forth. I hadn’t heard my father's’ name..since..”
I can’t take it anymore, and I rush out. I run to the entrance to this wretched library, as I see Kaili looking really confused, even scared.
I run up to the middle of the town, to see a bunch of people just talking. Alejandro is telling one of his stories again, I could tell. My anger and sadness got the best of me, and all I did was stare at Alejandro.
“Mi amigos! I have more to te-” Alejandro sees the distress in my face, and just stares at me confused. Then others look, and I run out of town.
I end up in the protected forest of our area, crying my eyes out.
That’s when I remember the election.
