Now, Most of you may know, that i am a huge fan of a lot of things from the 1980s and mid 90s. Like Gojira, Old cartoons and such, but theres one type of franchise in particular. im talking about no other than the Transformers. And no, im not talking about the Micheal bay movies that is almost universally hated by TF fans. even though i think they are pretty cool as well. Im talking about the original cartoon. Sure the newer cartoons on TV are alight like RID and TF prime, but im talking about the cartoon from the 80s. Even though i often praise the show for it being a childhood favorite, the 1980s cartoon wasnt the series i grew up with. But instead, i grew up with this series. called Transformers: Armada Even though this show wasn't really enjoyed by other TF fans, I thought it was fan-friggin-tastic. And it was an Anime out of all things. I looked forward to every new toy that hit the market when this cartoon was in its highest point, the aisles would be loaded with all kinds of merchandise. it was awesome c: The theme to this show kicked ass, and the characters all looked awesome. (with the exception of the human kids, i thought they were annoying.) and it was really well written. But it wasnt until mid 2003 when i went to walmart and saw they had something Transformers related sitting on the Shelves where all the VHS tapes would sit. (Yeah i lived in a time where VHS tapes were a thing, i know. crazy.) And i saw on the cover "Transformers: The movie" i begged my mom to buy it and we went home and i put it in the VHS player. It was then i got introduced to the 80s transformers, years before armada came out. and i absolutely loved that movie. Even though it sounds like im seriously praising the show. there has been some things i didnt really like about the old cartoon, like for example they would keep introducing new characters all the time just to push out new toys in the market, none of them really had personalities, and most of them either had uninteresting bios written about them, sometimes they would either portray the autobots and decepticons as either nature loving hippie robots to heartless evil bastards. :P So pretty much, they made almost every 80s cartoon like G.I joe, Thundercats, He-man and Transformers were all but big ways to make profit from the toys. But nonetheless, the show was well written, and interesting to watch as i could actually understand whats going on. But the main thing i am asking now is that is there anyone else somewhere in the IJAH community that also has an interest in this franchise? thats all i would like to know. :) i hope you guys did enjoy reading this, and maybe you would learn a little bit more about my favorite franchise.
I liked it when I was younger, but I have lost some interest over time. I would still start debates over it though! :P
