hi!! possible tw on the post depression/suicide. sorry this isn't a pic, thread about politics, life story, or am i mature thread,
this will prolly get no feedback but hey i dont care
I'm really bored and i'd really like to talk about the show right now in depth because it's just something i like to do. so if you watch the show, please feel free to input some things and we can discuss! (sorry i have no where else to do so) i know things i talk about get old and im annoying but hey dont judge thanks c:
Cas is God’s favorite and the chosen one. God will come not to help Lucifer but to help Cas. Cas is going to be the one to stop Amara. We know Dean can’t do it. We know Sam can’t really do it either so that just leaves one other person. Cas being chosen by God to stop the Darkness serves two purposes:

    1. Bringing a really nice end to his arch this season. Cas learning he is useful and special and loved
    2. Reinforcing that it’s Dean and Cas, not Dean and Amara, that share the profound bond
I want to elaborate on this a bit cause just saying Sam can’t do it isn’t a good reason for it to be Cas. We’ve had 4 season worth of episodes telling us that it takes a strong bond to break through mind control. A bond stronger than family. Time and time again Sam and Dean have been unable to get through to one another while under some other creatures control. We know Dean can kill Amara because as she’s said, Dean will always protect her. This implies that when the big finale finally goes down Dean will be compromised. Sam could kill Amara but we’ve been shown that Sam and Dean can’t break the influence of mind control on each other. If Sam tried to kill Amara, she would likely send Dean after him. But Cas on the other hand, has shown to be able to through to Dean and vice versa. If Amara makes Dean attack Cas, we already have proof that Cas would be able to get through to Dean OR that Dean would be able to resist and not hurt Cas. So yeah this is why I’m pretty convinced that it’s going to be Cas to take down Amara and why I think it will reinforce the bond he shares with Dean.
It? It’s not an “it”, Sam. It’s Cas.
Probably my favorite line from the episode. I was actually on the verge of crying when Dean immediately jumped to correct Sam on this. I think it tells us something fundamentally different about the way both brothers perceive who and what Cas is and honestly, I am drowning in emotions because of it. Let me explain.

So, Sam reffered to Cas’ vessel as an “it” and… he’s not necessarily wrong. Cas is, after all, an angel inhabiting a human vessel, and as we all know, Jimmy Novak’s soul has been absent from it for quite some time, which turns his body into some kind of empty shell ready for him to use. A tool. Sam calling the vessel an “it”, clearly shows he hasn’t forgotten this, and tells us a lot about how he views Cas. Sure as a friend, as someone he cares deeply about, as someone to trust… but also as the supernatural being he actually is. As grace, energy and power inside a body that serves a function. “It’s a strong vessel Dean, it’s held Cas for years”. The real Cas is not the one he sees, but the one inside. For him, Jimmy’s body is not Cas.

Now let’s get to Dean and how defensive he is at Sam talking about Cas like this. In his mind, he wasn’t talking about a vessel, a tool, much less about something disposable or something to use and risk. He was talking only about Cas, because Cas’ vessel is as much Cas as everything else. Just as his grace, conscience and powers, to Dean, Jimmy’s body is important to the point in which separating “it” from the “real Cas” is unconceivable: it’s a He and it is Cas. Sure, Dean too has shown he doesn’t forget Cas is a supernatural being, but in tonight’s episode, he shows he also believes that Cas, the Cas he’s known for years now, is as human as he gets. Someone he can touch, see, trust and care about. Someone he loves.

Why do I think this is important? Because I believe the writers wanted to make a point of it for a reason. To show how this affects the relationship both Winchesters have with Cas, and possibly, how it might affect it in the future. Basically, it makes the possibility of a romantic, not only platonic relationship between Cas and Dean more plausible. I would be very surprised if this is not what they’ve been hinting at at this point. Thing is, some of the main issues some people have had with this are “Jimmy is probably still there” which can’t be used anymore because of 10x20, and “but people want Dean to be with Cas when Jimmy’s body is not even Cas, it’s just a vessel” or “he’s an angel so why would Dean even consider being involved with him” plus “Cas in any other vessel would be the same, so him loving Cas doesn’t prove he loves a guy” but… guess what! Dean doesn’t see it like this!

The eyes he looks into, the hand he takes, the shoulder he grabs, the smile he sees, the voice he hears, even the scruff, and definitely even the clothes he wears… everything, every single detail is important to Dean! ‘Cause that’s Cas and it’s his Cas and he’s not gonna give up on him that easily.
The glimpse we got in s11 ep19 (April 6th 2016) of Cas and his depression was straight up jarring in its absolute familiarity.
    I’ve been there.
When you’ve completely given up. When you don’t care to do anything. When the things going on around you outside of your depression don’t matter.
I honestly can’t even remember what finally broke me out and woke me up but I really hope Cas finds something that does the same for him. I understand that it's a TV show but I really like dissecting the show
    Cas & the Kitchen:
The space of the kitchen is endlessly interesting to me this season: Sam has been researching there a lot recently, and out of everywhere Castiel has been, that is where he is inside his own head. I think it has to do with a sense of home and family.
The kitchen is a family space, you sit there and do your homework when your parents cook dinner, you eat at the table as a family, and that is typically where a lot of families here about each others’ lives. You feel safe there, and loved. I think it’s significant to Sam because he’s finally thinking of the Bunker as home, and I think it’s significant to Cas for the same reason. More than that, though, I think it’s especially significant to Castiel because it’s paired with the TV which is used as a coping mechanism, and as an escapist tool. The bunker is his happy place.
So we’ve got this Angel That Could comfortably escaping in the place he feels safest, and that he belongs. He is falling deeper and deeper into this escapism and fantasy instead of healthily dealing with his problems. At the same time, though, the kitchen is where he could potentially work out his problems, where he could voice them and be heard and not be judged. But the problem, I think, is that the kitchen, for Cas, right now inhabits the space of the head: sure, he could say the things he needs to say, he could deal with his PTSD, but there’s good reception so high up where everything’s rational and he made his decision in Hell. A lot of his dialogue, too, was commenting on the rationality and logic of the Winchester’s choices.
His heart, however… we’ve seen that when Cas inhabits the space of the heart, he’s capable of pretty much anything. The then becomes moving the safety of the kitchen into the heart space, and having the heart to speak out or to act or to deal with what’s been bothering him.
When that happens, I have a feeling Castiel will be unstoppable.
Random thing that has nothing to do with the season:
I find swan song disturbing on every level but I don’t get how much deans role is dismissed by a lot of dean fans.Dean doesn’t show up at stull, Sam never takes control back from lucifer. Sam failed in his plan! Sam failed and lucifer won! That’s what happened in swan song before Dean insisted on interrupting things at stull.
Sure the show and fandom insist Sam was the one to save the world (from the consequences of his choices) but… Seriously. Dean was the only reason that happened.Maybe people see his role as passive? I don’t see it that way. The whole thing is fucked up beyond measure but dean wasn’t passive in Swan song and he’s the only reason lucifer was defeated.

Dean and the Thing about Dying
There were a lot of devastating and deeply unsettling things shown in this episode relating to Dean’s emotional state of mind, but these moments here of Dean actively committing suicide by overdosing on drugs would have to be one of the most heartbreaking things ever imo. I mean we have seen Dean go to desperate measures and “flirt” with Death before like that by dying, but somehow this moment here was way more unsettling to watch for me, because on the one hand it is just one more subtle nod to Dean’s knowledge and experience when it comes to drugs, but it also just showcases how bad and alarming his depression truly is, because he is so weirdly calm and okay with dying - sadly that’s nothing new, but it paints a devastating picture. The scenes of Dean choking and seizing would have to be the most gut wrenching moments of the entire series to me tbh. Especially when you see how Dean in the veil is looking on to the scene and knows exactly what they need to do to bring him back to life. One can just wonder where the experience stems from, from knowing exactly what they need to do. Whatever the answer is, it is a sad one. (If you're confused, Dean basically committed suicide for Sammy)
You know what I hate? The fact that people see Dean asking Billie to bring Sam back is selfish of him. Billie’s taunt that Dean was “only doing this for [himself]” makes no sense because he literally offered up his own life as a bargain. He was willing to be the one sent to the Empty as long as it meant Sam didn’t die. Dean believed (and still does) that Sam is the only one that can stop Amara/The Darkness, and if Sam was dead then there would be no way to win. So, with Sam dead Dean sees the only option is to offer up his own life in place of Sam’s. He wasn’t asking Billie to bring Sam back to life so they could live together, he was willing to be dead in Sam’s place. That aside I still don’t see how Dean wanting his brother to be alive is selfish in any way. Ask anyone that if they were given the chance to bring a dead loved one back to life and I can guarantee you they would jump at the opportunity. Yeah there’s always that “don’t mess with the universe” type retort to bringing those you’ve lost back but it is human nature to want those who you love to come back to you. ESPECIALLY since Sam didn’t just die, he was MURDERED. Sam’s life was taken away from him unfairly and against his will. Not only was this murder but Sam and Dean had just SAVED Corbin and Michelle. Sam showed no signs of WANTING to die. He struggled against Corbin as he was being strangled, he fought as best he could and Dean doesn’t even need to know that to justify what he tried to do. Back when Sam tried to bargain with the crossroads demon for Dean’s life he offered up his own life instead. I don’t recall Sam being called selfish in that instance. It doesn’t help that Billie’s line paints Dean in a negative light because logically it doesn’t make sense. She calls him out for being selfish, giving those who feel the need to validate this assertion fuel, and yet nothing about what he’s asking benefits him any more than it benefits Sam and the rest of the world. Dean was prepared to stay dead and go to Empty knowing he saved Sam, who he believes is the only one that can stop the Darkness and in turn save the world.
I know that I talk about Castiel a lot but he's just such a fun character to talk about.

8.02 // 11.18 Cas's home is with Dean according to him.
Cas laughing and saying that Dean probably has a more objective view of the situation is so upsetting to me

because WE know Dean doesn’t have an objective view. Dean is desperate to get Cas back. He wants Cas to eject Lucifer because he doesn’t want to risk him dying. There’s emotion in that, which clouds objectivity. He thinks that Dean has NO emotional attachment to Cas that would make him want to expel Lucifer, and he thinks Dean’s reasoning is ONLY logical, but he’s also just too depressed to care about the “logical” option.

and we know that this is bullshit. And it’s what makes me really think that Dean will HAVE to show/tell Cas that he DOES care about him.

Ok I'm done, so if there's anything you'd like to talk about feel free to discuss! I love talking about the writers and directors too! Styles, cannon, and so much more stuff! :) thanks if you do comment!! don't say i didn't warn you about spoilers
