I was really bored so I decided to come up with my own riddle. It's pretty easy compared to other riddles but if you're stuck you can consult the answers at the bottom. The Row of ChairsThere are four chairs in one row in a small amphitheater that is performing a symphony. After the intermission, four attendees didn't remember their seats in row nine. You can't see what they look like, but they can be distinguished by the following characteristics. The color of their shirt, which could be: Purple Red Blue Black What's in their hand, which could be: a Cane a Purse a Ticket Stub nothing They each also remember some pieces of information to help you. 1. "I need something to help me walk and was between two people. Only one of the people I sat between wore a secondary color." 2. "I know the person who wore purple was certainly next to someone who had a purse." 3. "The people who wore red and blue weren't next to each other." 4. "My ticket stub says I sit in 9C." 5. "Whoever is in 9D wears blue." 6. "One of the people who wore primary colors had nothing in their hands." The order of the four seats are A....B....C....D Can you determine what each person's seat, hand item, and shirt color is? DO NOT OPEN THIS UNLESS YOU'RE REALLY STUCK. Spoiler You'll want to start with clue 4, connecting the ticket stub with 9C. The second step would be to go to clue 3 and determine the possible ways they could be seated. The colors red and blue could be in A and C, B and D, or A and D. After that, you'll want to use clue 5 which states that blue is in 9D, canceling out the possibility that red and blue are in A and C. With that information, go to clue 1 which states that the person needs a cane and sat next to someone who wore a secondary color. This could only be purple. You can then determine that purple is in 9C because if the person with the cane wore red or blue then the other person that he or she is next to must be a red or blue also, but that won't work because we already ruled out that red and blue don't sit next to each other (clue 3). Now you rule out two things with this information. The first being that red and blue are in B and D impossible as purple is next to a non-primary color. That means that the person in 9B has to be black and the person in 9A has to be red as blue is already in 9D (clue 5) Fourth, go to clue 2. The person with the purse must be blue because black already has a cane (clue 1) Lastly, go to clue 6. This confirms what red has in their hand, which is nothing. The answer is: 9A wears red and has nothing in the hand. 9B wears black and carries a cane. 9C wears purple and has a ticket stub. 9D wears blue and carries a purse. I just thought this would be a fun thing to do. If you need any help, just ask.
