Objective: Get to the airport and obtain the care package before sunrise This was, of course, your new goal in the horrible wasteland that Earth has turned into. The small town you lived in, of course, had an airport a few miles away. And, of course, your group had one of the few cars left. The infection had reached considerably close to your town. And you had until sunrise to get the package. Apparently it was some sort of miracle-drug that could highly slow down the infection from coming in- but if the infection was already in you, it spread too quickly and couldn't be stopped, turning you into a savage zombie-like beast. The package was dropped in by some government agencies in a jet. You still doubted they would ever find a cure, but this would, for now, have to do. You wonder why you ever volunteered. Your current town leader says good bye and good luck, but asks you one question. Would you like to take our car? It was pretty rusted up, and would probably alert many nearby zombies. If you traveled on foot, you might not be detected. Plus, you would have to choose whether you brought your axe or shotgun, which needed 2 hands to be wielded. It was your decision. Spoiler: Travel by car You decided that it would be too risky to travel on foot, and the car, though rickety, might offer you some protection. You have a swiss army knife in a fold of your boot, and a pistol, shotgun, and wicked axe in the back of your car. You have driven for about 7 miles without seeing any zombie creatures when you get to the airport's chain-link fence. You see dozens of zombies roaming around. You look around and see that in an open spot of the airport (on flat ground) there is a care package with a small, white parachute tied around it. It would be risky getting to there, as one scrape or bite from a zombie could infect you and drive you insane in hours. Unless you were eaten before that. You thought of a plan. You could drive in, get the care package, and drive out. It seemed like a good plan.. at least you hoped. Sweat trickled down your shoulder. It was a do or die moment right now. The people in your small town depended on you. You drove back a little, then stepped on the gas petal. As you drove through the chain link fence, you felt confident. It was only about 50 yards away. That was until you heard a large POP! All the zombies were slowly getting closer to you, and you weren't moving... The barbed wire! you think. It must of gotten stuck on one of your tires and now it was flat. You climb out of the car. You can't back down now; they might follow you back. You went into the back of your car and had an option. The pistol is a good backup weapon. But you need to choose either the axe or the shotgun to go in with. Spoiler: Shotgun No way, the axe would be way too hard to handle! Plus, it is super heavy. You stick with the modern day technology you have. You sprint toward the care package, shotgun in hand. Your hands are sweaty with nervousness. You spot the closer zombie to you. You shoot it in the head, pellets confirming a kill. You start to go in. You get the top off the box and put some small bottles of liquid in your pocket. Another zombie is coming, and soon would be more. You pump and shoot, but nothing comes out. You have enough ammo, but it's jammed! In this brief time you are hesitating, the zombie lunges on you, biting your neck. You try to get out but it's hopeless. You have been killed. Spoiler: Axe Shotguns are unreliable, especially if I ran out of ammo. Though it is a bit heavy, and does slow you down a bit, you grind your teeth as you charge in. Zombies are slowly making your way to you, and one gets very close. You swing at it, ripping it's chest but not stopping it. You hit it again, and its head is off. You go to the box. Quickly as you can, you rip the top open, and take the medicine that is within. Suddenly, as you are getting up, more zombies are coming closer and starting to surround you. This would be harder than your thought. You charge at one side, taking one giant swing with the axe. It doesn't hit a single target and you fly to the ground, scrambling to get up. You have the medicine, you just need to get back. You get up and run, without the axe. You get to the car with zombies about 10 yards away. You take the pistol instead of the shotgun, as you may need quick reflexes. You are sprinting away when you see zombies finally coming out of the forest. They were trying to surround you. You could take off into the forest, or try to battle them out one by one with the shotgun. Spoiler: Take off into forest You are taking off into the forest, sprinting faster than you ever had before. As you pass your first zombie, it scratches your arm, sending immense pain through you. You should have taken the medicine before you ran, since now, you would slowly turn insane. You knew you had no hope, your arm was already starting to rot. You put the pistol up to your head and pulled the trigger. Spoiler: Kill them one by one You reach into the car and take out the shotgun. Turning in a circle, you shoot the zombies. The shotgun is a bit slower than them to reload, and they are slowly gaining in. Since more are coming from the airport's direction, you start to target the zombies in the forest. It works. You soon have enough ground to where there aren't many zombies left. You shoot one last final zombie, pellets scattering. You then drop the shotgun and make a break for it. * * * * * * 1 mile later, you are tired. You have been running for a long time. It is starting to turn day slowly. You don't see or hear anymore zombies in sight. You force yourself to go on and you starting running back. * * * * * * You make it in time before the sun rises. You are so tired when you get there that you just point to your pocket where the medicine is. Though there still is no cure, you can sleep knowing that you, and many others, won't become a monster for a long time. The end. Spoiler: Travel on foot The car would definitely alert zombies, and the car could backfire (especially in the condition it is in.) The axe and shotgun would be too heavy, so you leave them with the town. You bid them goodbye, armed with only a swiss army knife in your boot's pocket, and a pistol in your grasp. It is about 2:30 am. The sun would start to rise at around 6. You needed to make a quick journey if you wanted to make it there by sunrise. Instead of running, you decide to jog so you can save up your energy. You are very hesitant, stopping every time you hear a noise. But for half an hour, you hear no zombie-like creatures. Weird, but all you hoped was that they weren't all just alerted by the care package that was dropped. You arrive outside the airport in about and hour later. You watch says it is 4:13 am, which meant you would have to pick up your pace. There is a fence surrounding the airport, barbed wire laced on top. You look into the airport. In a giant flat area (about 50 yards away) which must be some landing space, you see a small wooden crate with a small, white parachute tied to it. Bingo. It was about 50 yards away, but there was a problem. Zombies were walking around the airport, mindlessly. Their minds were long gone and the medicine wouldn't be able to save a single one of them. You had 2 choices. You could try to be quick and dash there, take the supplies and run out. But that would be very risky, and you might want to take the safer side and sneak in. Spoiler: Be quick, be noticed You weren't carrying any heavy items, so you could get in and get out quickly. As for the fence, you climb over and pulled the barbed wire away using your knife and a twig. You jump down, and sprint toward the care package. You notice the groans of zombies getting louder- they knew you were here, and they were coming. You get to the care package before any zombie gets to you. Luckily, they were slow. You throw the top of the box away and get the medicine dug into your pockets. As you get up, zombies are starting to surround you. You take out your pistol and shoot the 3 zombies in the head blocking you from getting out through the forest. Then you jump over their decaying bodies and sprint for the fence. The problem is more zombies are coming in and trying to cut you off. This would be close. You sprint hard, harder than you ever had. Once you get close to the fence, you jump up, getting about half way up before climbing over. Zombies moan on the other side of the fence. You have achieved your goal. But then you hear some hinges breaking. The fence was about to break open and release all of the zombies! You needed to act fast. Either you could try to stop the fence from breaking or you could try to kill a majority of them. Spoiler: Kill them There was a great chance you could get killed and not be able to return to your town if you tried to repair the fence. You decide to kill them. You shoot all of the zombies near the chain-link fence, aiming for the head. You have killed over 30 zombies (about half) when the fence falls, the barbed wire you dodged earlier almost catching on your clothes. The zombies come in, too many for you to kill at once. But you persevere. You slowly kill every zombie, grateful you have enough bullets. You see some zombies in the distance coming toward you, but you know they won't be able to catch up. You look at your watch and jog home. * * * * * * You get home around 5:46 am, cutting it close. You are handing out the medicine to the people gathered when suddenly one points to your leg. You see a scratch searing down it with many colors and pus pouring down. You see your leg slowly starting to decompose. Though you may have saved the town, you may have not saved yourself. You look at how much gun ammo you have left. 1 bullet. Spoiler: Help the fence You shoot a couple of the closest zombies and start gathering up some wood from nearby fallen trees. You are stocking up a barricade so they won't be able to get through. You have a pile of logs set up nearby when the fence suddenly swings down. You dive out, but it lands on your back. Zombies are coming. You try to get free, but your leg snags on something. The barbed wire you set aside earlier was now hooked around you, and you could not escape. The more you struggled the more it hurt, but you kept struggling anyway. Finally, you turn your back and only get a few shots off on the zombies before they are upon you. You try to turn the gun on yourself so you can end the pain quickly, but you feel a large pain in your arm that makes you drop your gun. This would not be peaceful. Spoiler: Be slower, hopefully not noticed You decide to go unnoticed. As for the fence, you climb over and pulled the barbed wire away using your knife and a twig. You slowly get down on the other side, grateful no zombies heard the fence rattling. Even though you are out in the open, you might be able to get to the care package by the time you are spotted. And it works! You are very silently opening the box, getting the medicine inside, and putting them in your pocket. Then you turn around and a zombie lunges at you. Apparently, it was better at being quiet than you were. As it bites your shoulder and scratches your arms away, you know you have no hope at surviving. Slowly, other zombies join in to make the scene more horrific. In comments below, please say if you liked the story and what happened on your first experience!
I loved this! It's very original and cool to see someone write their story like this. What happened (spoilers for those who haven't read it yet, I guess): Spoiler I decided to travel by car, and used my shotgun to try and kill the zombies but got killed by the lunging zombie which bit my neck. I really liked this story dark, it's truly amazing. Spoiler: My Choices Ok so I first decided to go by car because I was in a hurry and needed to go fast. I then chose the axe because I knew the shotgun could run out of bullets/break/etc. I then chose to kill the zombies all together, thinking I could save the town, but ended up saving myself. (These were all my first choices)
Wow this is really cool and has a great story. Great job! :) Spoiler So I picked the car ride because I you would think going on foot would be bad, then as I got to the airport I picked the shotgun and I through it would have worked, but nope. xD You really know how to turn things around.
