Apparently on the 21st of August, the United States will be going through a rare Solar Eclipse.

Just want to get and hear your thoughts on this country event. I don't think I've personally experienced one of these, but have you? Also if you're fine with sharing is your state in the expected path of the eclipse?

Southeast Asians get to see the full eclipse last year, but I only get to see 50% of it
not that special if you only see half of it, but I saw it live on the news, other cities becomes dark for around 2 minutes. That's pretty cool.

I think there was one in my area before, but I was too lazy to look outside my window.

NASA has an interactive map that can tell you more approximate times for the eclipse with your location, if anyone wants to try it out: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/interactive_map/index.html
Even though I won't be in its exact trajectory, I'll see it around 2pm my time. Hopefully I remember to check lol

I'm pretty excited for this event, I've never seen a total solar eclipse before, I hear they are pretty spectacular.

I remember seeing a partial solar eclipse back in 2012, but this will be the first time I see one where it blocks out the sun entirely. I'll try to get photos and such when it happens. :)

I live near the eclipse line actually. Just a couple hour drive south and I'll be in the path. The only downside is I'll have to miss it because the 21st is my first day of classes /:
Hopefully I'll be able to spot a partial eclipse from the campus at least.

I'm too far north to see the total eclipse unfortunately. Hopefully I'll get to see the partial one though.

My science teacher told me about this before school was out and she even made us write it down. I don't know if I'll be able to see the whole thing because I live in New York but she said that the sky would change for like a minute. I've never seen one of these and I'm so excited because you only get to see it once or twice in your lifetime.

It goes right through there I live (Near St. Louis). My district also cancelled school that day. I don't get the deal, it's happening again in 2020

I almost wish I weren't going to be on a cruise that week so that I could see the eclipse better from San Antonio rather than the Caribbean. But hey, it's a cruise!
