Mini Modding On Forums

Now lemme first start off and explain what mini modding is; basically when a person, either on forums or server; acts like a mod. In the case of the forums it would be when someone tells another person to not double post.


Well, im sick of it. Pretty much every single thread has some mini modding in it.Usually when a well-known member double post, know one would bother trying to tell him to stop. If it is a member or a new member everyone would go in his face telling him not to double post.

Im just sick of it, makes me sick to my stomach . Why not use the report feature?
And let the MOD tell them not to do somthing


Also what difference does it make for double posting? Does NOTHING. Unless its bumping, it does nothing to you or other people on the forums

I am going to apologize to all the people that I have told to not double post on a thread, I just tried to help you not to get you in some trouble, so did some other people. I have enforced the rules, and I am not a staff member, I should get a warning point for that. from now on, I will use the report button. Again, thank you Hellotoyou, and to the people that I've told not to double post, I am sorry.

 

As animoes also stated, I'm going to stop "mini nodding" as well and sorry to all I have enforced the rules to. I should've known better than to do so.

 

Back of loser, Freedom of speech. jk xD I completely agree with you. It's super annoying and there is a difference between helping someone and mini modding.

Ex: There is a difference between saying this to a spammer
"Please stop spamming, or I'll report you and you'll get banned (by a Mod)"
And
"Stop spamming or I'll get you banned (this makes it sound like you will ban them)"

Also if it is double posted unless it is a thread it is easily deleted

you guys got way off topic...
but on the note of mini-modding some moderators are okay with it. Even a admin. Mini-modding at this time is actually not a bad thing. If a player needs help with no staff, you should help them. It should be the normal way of life, to help somebody whenever. It's also not bad, because staff members can see how well of a moderator you would be.

 

Yeah, but they can also see it in the player's Staff Application.

I made my opinion on this in the other thread on server discussion.
Short story: the mods aren't on enough to make the rules themselves can until they can then we have every rigjt.

But what HTY means is Mini Modding as ACTING like a Mod. If you look at my post, there is a difference between helping out and acting as if you were a Mod or high authority

 

Sure, but there's a lot more to people than just an application.
You can't just judge someone by their application. What about their actions? Their personality? Their communication/social skills? Their judgment ability?
There are so many aspects to consider besides the app.
Also, I honestly don't see the problem with informing someone that they shouldn't do a certain thing, as long as they don't actually act like they're a staff member and have authority. It makes jobs a bit easier on staff, and is beneficial to the person who, let's say, double posted. Because if we just report everything, it would take a while for the staff to get to all of the reports. Why would they need to be alerted to one little double post?
If it's more of a major problem, such as a flame war, NSFW or profane content, I feel that would be appropriate to be reported.

To sum it up, I'm saying that I'm against mini-modding when people act like they're a staff member, act like they are held in higher esteem than everyone else, and constantly tell people off.
However, I don't see a problem with people just telling someone not to bump or double post every once in a while. It's not even that big of a deal. But, if the problem is more major, such as previously stated examples, then it should be reported.
This is just my opinion though.

 

Here's the thing.

Backseat moderating is not when a player does moderator jobs, its when the person FEELS like he has authority. In reality, he/she is doing things the moderator wouldn't have done in the first place. Remember double posting? Tell me how many times a moderator told someone not to. I can count the ones I've seen on one hand.

Then everyone starts taking double-posting like a big deal...

if you want to help, just kindly link them to the rules thread, and let them figure it it themselves.


Backseat moderating only shows that the person is unable to read (rule 11), and is hungry for authority and power, and I thank those who have stopped.

 

I only tell people not to cause it's annoying to see them continuously double posting and no one else is tell them otherwise ;-;
