So apparently it's possible to see the milky way with the naked eye if there isn't too much light pollution. "According to a new report published in the Journal of Science Advances, one third of humanity and approximately 80% of North Americans and 60% of Europeans can no longer see the Milky Way from where they live due to light pollution." Spoiler: what it's supposed to look like Here are some light pollution maps. Ideally, to see the Milky Way, you'd want to live somewhere black or gray. I actually did once, when i was Very very little. It was in the middle of winter and i was outside with my grandma, and i looked up and saw the Milky way galaxy, Such a beautiful sight. Sadly ever since then I never saw it again. Hopefully one day i can take a Trip to somewhere where there's no light pollution.
Since I don't live in a city, and in the southern hemisphere where the Milky Way is brighter, I can see it almost every night that is not cloudy.
Nah, I live in the UK and we never see stuff like that. I do have a constellation app in my phone so I kinda just pretend it's there. .. :(
living in the woods really enhances the night sky full of stars and if i'm lucky, I get to see it and it's so beautiful.
I did, and then I stared at the beautiful view. After that, I was disrupted by a wild Kximy and I had to run away before dying.
Yes I have, there are areas in the Indian jungles where literally no light pollution reaches, that, and some Indian territorial islands I have been to are extremely dark. I've always wanted to see the entire galaxy as a whole, but unfortunately, Earth isn't at a position to see the galaxy like that.
Can't usually see it as I live in the city but when I go out into the country and in rural areas I can sometimes see it
