I've pointed this out on a couple of threads, and I don't exactly get it.

When people post on an old thread, this is usually what happens.

ThreadMaker (December 1st, 2013): Hey guys, I made this amazing drawing, I hope you like it!

Doge69 (December 2nd, 2013): Wow. Such amaze. Much beautiful.

BobBarbara (February 21st, 2014): This is a really great drawing man, good job!

WellKnownMember (February 21st, 2014): DON'T REPLY TO OLD THREADS SJFKLAJAKLJ

ActiveMember (February 21st, 2014): REPLYING TO OLD THREADS IS AGAINST THE RULES

    RandomModGuyXX (February 21st, 2014): /lock

Nowhere in the rules does it say that you can't reply to old threads.

Yes, it says that you shouldn't bump excessively, but most of the time it's one post. The scenario above shows what normally happens.

If someone brings up an old thread once, you don't need to bombard them with "DON'T REPLY TO OLD THREADS READ THE RULES REQUESTING LOCK!"

There is no rule against it, and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with it.

I would've put this into TIPS: Volume 3, but I was too lazy to think of 10 more tips...

No necro-posting needs to be either added to rules or removed completely.

I think that this was brought up certain times before, or was it?

    anyway
I see you have a point, but if we dont warn people, they wont know its wrong
I only tell people to not bump when they bumped like.. 3/4 threads

Well, most of the time people are very, eh, harsh in their warnings. Most of the time, it's new members bumping, so we need to cut them a bit of slack.
I think what Joey is also partially implying in this post is, instead of yelling at new members, just kindly inform them that they may want to avoid bumping in the future.

Depends on whether it's a new member or a troll.
Trolls can be new members who necro (ItsJanet and iamdeoxys on old forums). In other words, they bring up old posts because they can.
New members just don't know better.
Joey, I see your point, but I've heard it from the mods themselves that Necroing is worth a warning.

I never knew there was another world apart from us. :3

and joey is part stating that there should be a written rule about no necros because there isn't one. it only says 'Excessive bumping'

Sorry Finn, I didn't word that post very well.
What I was trying to do was use bumping as an example. Lately, there has been a little toleration for newer members, so I feel that we do need to realize they don't know everything about the forums yet and instead of going off on them to instead give them more guidance.
Don't get me wrong, we're certainly improving at this. I have seen people be more helpful to newer members, but I don't think we're quite there yet.
