I didn't know if I should put it on server discussion or off topic... Everyone complains about the bad community, and yes, I do agree that some stuff got really messed up, but I have some stuff to point out. "the community has grown. Larger community means more players meaning more posts. If you get involved in flame wars it's because you're too immature to ignore" That's what Jerry said, and it's true. People need to understand that the server isn't a small server that it'll stay with the same players forever, people are joining it, and you guys need to accept it. Some of the people might be immature, might not follow the rules, but you guys need to understand that people will join, not all of them are perfect. Another thing I wanted to point out is the ranks and post farming. I saw many suggestion threads about removing the ranks and bringing back the stuff that were in the old forums. I agree with that but I have a feeling that people will abuse it and make NSFW ranks, etc... I also agree that the post farming is insane, people want to get active or well known, and unfortunately, this is how they do it... What I'm trying to say is, this community is amazing. Let me tell you a small story... When I first started playing Minecraft, I went on servers such as The Hive and Avicus, people there were... fine, but they didn't stop making fun of me because I was a newbie. I did met friends there, well, sort of. Because, to be honest, you can meet a great person on a server, play with him, etc. But it's almost impossible to see him again. When I found IJAH I logged on, and I got welcomed pretty well. People didn't make fun of me, they actually did something different, they helped me. I still remember how many people tried to help me when I didn't know how to sprint, or parkour, or anything related. Ever since that day I always logged on on the server, and I was always terrified because I thought I won't see my new friends again. Surprisingly, I did saw them, and I was very happy. Also, have you seen all the 'selfie' threads? have you seen how many likes people got only because they posted a picture of themselvs? that's because our community is supportive. Almost everyone are looking on the negative side and not the positive. And kklm, dmuds, wolfy, and whoever was in that teamspeak call. Remember how much I laughed? how happy I looked like? I bet you wouldn't belive if I told you that I cried for 2 hours before we started the call because I got humiliated at school. That's a proof that you guys always make me smile, and by 'guys' I don't just mean the people who were in the ts call, I mean all of my friends on the server. What I'm trying to say is, stop looking at the dark side of the server, which I do agree that it exists, and start looking at the bright side, stop complaining, and stop saying how bad the server is. Because I think our community is amazing, and I couldn't ask for better friends.
There are just some attention-seekers out there who want to make us mad. We should ignore and talk positive. I would really appreciate it if there were more discussions via the forum conversation thing. You can also contact me via skype.
I get what you are saying. Sure, compared to some communities, it's not that bad. But I care little about the server community itself. I care about the forum community. Which isn't ALL too bad either... Look at it from this perspective. The old forums had the best community that you could imagine. The new forums came and the good community disappeared overnight. It all exploded, more or less. Imagine having the best community you could ever dream of for over half a year. Then picture it getting taken away from you, and it will be impossible to ever get it back. Welcome to our situation. I miss the old community. It can never come back, there is no hope for such. It's not as much this community being bad as it is being bad via comparison to what we once had.
Magical mentioned attention-seekers. That's this server's "virus". Small number of immature people who think spamming the forums and flaming will get them some reputation or whatever. They don't realise that post count means sh@!. Excessive spamming and flaming will only get them banned eventually. For a fact, I know this is one of freakin rare servers who has friendly staff members, and I mean friendly to everyone. So if you need anything or have complains, feel free to contact any of us because that's what we are here for. About those immature people who flame everyone because they think they are better/cooler/smarter than anyone, I only have 1 thing to say: /ignore. And community didn't go away. We still have many players and many new ones. People think communities die because they don't want to give chance to new people. You never know, maybe some of those greyname newbies could be your new best friend.
Agree that aggressive communications are too common on j&h, I myself will be aggressive as well, as long as all the facts are on my side. But there are examples of way bigger communities doing way better than here.
Everything there is true. This is the ONLY, and I mean ONLY community, where I know most donators, some mods, and a couple of the grey chat. One thing though, is the grey chat is horrible. I remember being grey chat, and I rarely got noticed. I would say hi to people, occasionally getting a hi back. I came on with my Legend rank, and suddenly everyone started saying hi and everything. I remember the hive, where you had to pay to chat to peeps. I didn't have the ability to donate back then (This is the only server I have donated on) and it got lonely. Mineplex, it's too complicated and people are too competitive. The best thing about this server? Everyone, and I MEAN everyone, is nice (Usually) and is friendly. I remember talking to LilaRok randomly one day, and now she is a very good friend. I accepted a skype call from Van, Alex, Corban and some others. Within that call, I met a few people. RocWolf, who is now a very good friend of mine, we got him into the call, as sort of a dare thing. That night was also the night I first saw Elite. I could go into every single detail, but that's for another night. There are tons of people on the this server, and it is bound to grow. We may never be mineplex or youtuber's servers(Sky, SSundee, Hypixel, etc etc) but isn't that a good thing? I love this server due to me being able to just say in chat 'Hi' and people will say hi back. I have met many friends here, and I am bound to meet more. We are a tight community, and yes, I have seen the server rise from 400-600 highest to 1500, but just be glad we don't have 15,000 people. To all the grey chat: Never be afraid to talk to donators. We may be your new friends, that allow YOU to donate. To all the donators: Never make yourselves too much higher then grey chat. You were probably grey chat at one stage. There are plenty of awesome grey chat players, who deserve donator more then you, so make the effort of introducing yourselves to them, and at least getting to know them.
I was In the teamspeak call, and Jeez, Vaicun lost a lot In survivalgames and she killed me a lot was laughing a lot, we were all happy. This community Isn't bad at all, people just don't understand that they are looking at the wrong side, not the right side. We understand they might get frustrated with the 'No survival' thing, but when they are the owners and try to fix it, they will notice they are doing something wrong.
Agreed but if the community does go to a downfall, you know whose fault it is? The regulars. Why? The reason is because we're the ones influencing new players. The only way regulars won't influence new people is when they've had experience on Forums and etc (Like me). No matter how many good people there are, the bad ones normally outnumber. Let us influence others and may this community rise again. Yes posts will go up and the chances of a flame war probably will go up but what if I said that the Moderators are already doing their job? Thread Locked and the end. We aren't a bad community. We just have too little influences and we have way too much disrespect.
