Emotions are important, however they tend to make things a little twisted. Say that you are in love with a cactus and hug it non-stop, 24/7, the fact is that that cactus with all of it's prickly spikes are causing harm to you. Emotions blind people from seeing things how they really are. However, don't get me wrong, emotions are very important they just happen to mislead you at times. Facts never mislead you, because it is the truth.

Alright, @Yomc being the memester he is insisted I post this on his behalf instead of him posting it. So without further adieu, a message from Yomc.

And here it is again. The one conservative on this website (apparently) is making a trap thread. Kudos to you, good sir, kudos to you - and kudos on the Ben Shapiro reference as well.
Everyone who answered on this: if you said facts, that's a conservative-leaning ideal; if you said feelings, that's a liberal-leaning ideal. I would say that both are valid, but that's really not true.

This argument is objectivity versus subjectivity. Objectivity states that the world is unchangeable - that it is what it is, and we must perceived it in the only way that it can be perceived (that is to say, logically). There is only one truth, and that is what is objectively clear. If you believe that facts trump feelings, then you must only accept what is objective. As a result, you must attest to the fact that the evergreen tree has the same color as the grass. Furthermore, you must attest to the fact that the evergreen tree is a tree in the first place. You can turn it into a car just because you say "I like it better as a car."
Surprise! Objectivity also denies Transgenderism. Those who believe in objective reality must attest to the fact that gender can't be changed, regardless of one's wishes. This was a very, very difficult thing for me to consider. Look, I'm a communist at this point, so I'm very economically liberal, but others are often surprised when I accept objectivity. However, if you believe that facts don't care about your feelings, then you must deny the transgender movement, as well as any other movement that defies what is empirically true.

That's not to say that an equal argument can't be made for feelings over facts. If you say feelings, then that means that you see the world as subjective. Subjectivity states that since people can only perceive things in their own perspective, they can say whatever they want, since it's their perspective. There is only one lie in the subjective world - namely, to claim that something is a lie, is a lie, because it can always be true if someone believes it.
In the Subjective world, I can claim that 2+2=5 (1984 nostalgia over here). Oh, you don't agree with me? Well, you're wrong, because in my subjective reality, I'm right. If you tell me that 2+2=4, then you're violating my feelings. In the Subjective world, I can claim that I'm a horse. Oh? You say that I'm actually a human, because I possess all of the physical aspects of a human? Nope, you're wrong - you're defying my subjective reality, you close-minded bigot.

In the end, even as a communist, I shall always accept the Objective viewpoint, because the Subjective viewpoint destroys philosophy and cripples ethics. As such, let it be known to everyone here: facts don't care about your feelings.

If anyone disagrees, feel free to reply, preferably with facts instead of feelings. I mean, it's not like I'll be able to respond, but feel free to reply anyway.

(Oh, anyone going to NYU? I know I don't go on this website anymore, but if any of you are going to NYU next year, then you probably won't see me, but I guess I'll be there)

It's nice to have emotions when you are speaking your facts, like being energized and happy or you could be gloomy, boring, depressed, and sound like a nerd forcing facts down your throat.

Feelings/emotions don't matter, facts do. I would only use "feelings" If I were to need to win a debate using what appears to be them.

There's always bias, so I have to say it depends.
