SweetLife Festival 2016

Hey yo
So you might've noticed that I was suddenly inactive yesterday for the whole day until late this morning but that's because I was at a festival! woo wee
It was literally so amazing, I had the time of my life.
I'm just gonna break down everything bit by bit
SO
the tickets were $100 (worth it imo) and I went with my sister
I made us leave early in the morning, we left at 7:45ish and the concert was at 12 okay
so my brother took us there, we got there early and we literally waited for 3.5 hours because we got there at 9 and the process of letting people in was held up due to all the music artists just walking around and getting drunk and shit
so we literally passed grimes like 4895749857 times and she even said hi to us because we kept seeing her, right
we met the drummer from graciella and lead singer in Julietta asked me to listen to one of their songs being performed before 12 to make sure everything was set, because here's how the set went:

-vince staples//3:10pm
-shamir//4:35pm

-flume//7:30pm
-halsey//9:15pm
[they literally saved the best 3 for last ahahakjhfkjsdghksadjgh]

ok so
we watched graciella and there was like nobody at the treehouse stage
here's a pic of the setup of the pavillion [btw we stayed at the treehouse stage the whole time bc we had front row and both my sister and I wanted to record flume]

so right, after graciella- julietta and prinze george both played.
I absolutely love the drummer for prinze george, she's so energetic and pretty and cool and she even said hi to me c: julietta was so amazing [I met her again while flume played, but i'll get to that later]
So basically, vince staples came on and I overheard this random dude who was behind me mention that he was a rapper and I was like, oh, that's cool something different because the first 3 performances were alternative rock right
so vince staples came on and I kid you not everyone was smoking
like
I was one of the only people there who wasn't like, a senior or a college student right
and I had no idea, I would've gone anyway, but they were like- passing the hookah around and this girl was even like "OMFG I ATE THE WEED" and shit, also- there was this girl next to me in the front row and she literally smoked 7 cigarettes throughout the festival [it was disgusting but I for the most part couldn't smell it that much, I was having to breathe through my mouth because I WOKE UP sick and my nose was clogged and I was basically smoking a fucking cigarette and weed at the same time, ew]
anyway, vince staples was really cool and shit, his performance was great- but then it started to rain really bad, and it got harder and harder each minute
so at first we put on our hoods but we ended up soaked because both our jackets sucked. so we took out the sheet that was in my backpack that we were gonna use to sit just in case it didn't rain, and covered ourselves with it, then it got even HARDER so we eventually took out the umbrella and suddenly everyone was our best friend [lmao people thee days] and they all were like pushing forward to go under the umbrella and it was really bad because i couldnt breathe but eventually i pushed people away, like it was my right to have BREATHING SPACE

then there was like, a while of a break because it was raining so hard that they had to like coverall the lights and shit
and then this artist came on named shamir, right, and he plays he's really cute but his singing is REALLY off pitch, but his performance is cute
then, there was another long break plus the rain
THEN
I really needed to pee, by that time, it had been like, 5 hours of standing, my feet were aching from standing in the same spot, and i was very hungry. so right before pnd played, I had to get through this crowd that had gotten bigger because everyone wanted to see pnd,flume, and halsey right, so I had to get through it and people were giving me the dirtiest of looks, um what
so I eventually got through, and when I did, I ran to the bathroom right,
on my way back when I tried getting through the crowd I saw these 2 kids, they looked younger than me too, and they were smoking and I was like wait a fucking second this is illegal lmao, but none of the staff were doing anything about it? it was weird that there were no police but everyone kept telling people to "have fun and just do crazy shit" so I guess that's why
oh anyways so I had a really hard time getting back to the front since everyone wanted to be closer to the stage, we had first row. a bunch of people wouldn't let me through and so I had to attempt to push through and I went in circles and circles then there was this bitchy girl who started yelling at my face and I don't even know why I didn't yell at her back [ i think i was sick way too sick and tired to even bother], but I started like, tearing up- I ran like through the rest of the crowd and eventually got back to my place with my sister.
after pnd performed, which took a while, everyone started pushing forward bc they all wanted to record flume, and all the people from the main stage came bc the concert ended there, but it was going on here at the treehouse stage, and it got to the point where I couldn't breathe again
so I had to push back again and it was frustrating but I got enough space to breathe eventually [ it was still the smallest space ever]
then, all the artist who previously performed go in the spot right under the stage where the speakers are, and they start like drinking and smoking and getting ready for flume because literally that's the one person everyone wants to see
so I have like a casual conversation with the lead singer from julietta before flume goes on and she's the sweetest, she's really funny and it was pretty cool and shit, that I got to have that kind of conversation with a professional musician
FLUME MY BABY comes on, okay, he comes on right on time and I ended up sobbing [don't ask why, I love his music with a burning passion]
he plays some of his old music right, and it keeps lagging so he goes off and he's like, damn, I gotta take a break so the tech team can figure this out. So he comes back on in like 2 minutes and it is going all well when the same issue happens again, so he takes another like, 5 minute break and third time's the charm, he performs amazingly and the crowd is crazy. it made my day and I didn't give a shit, I sang along so offtune and I screamed my guts out and it was amazing.
he played a bunch of music, mostly old tunes but he played never be like you and say it! sadly my phone is a little shit and it died but I got some footage before that.
then, not even a long break, flume had played for almost 2 hours, then halsey came on, but she came on late. she totally made up for it, her performance was FIRE as fuck. okay? literally, there was fire and shit and it was so amazing, her and flume both outplayed everyone. she sang a bunch of songs, but my favorite one was castle because of the background video, and just how upbeat everyone was, singing along and shit. THEN, she jumps off the fucking, 10 foot stage and lands on the speakers, then she lands on the floor and I think people from the tech team, idk, they helped her up on the little border thingy that gave space between the speakers and the crowd, and she STEPPED ON MY HAND

SHE STOPS IN BETWEEN THE PRECHORUS AND CHORUS AND APOLOGIZES TO ME wiodsgjksfghskjfdgh? sdutgfrjhg
so then, she gets back on stage and colors pt.2 starts playing while she's making her way back to the stage and I was screaming my head off, she sings colors and the crowd goes whie and everyoen screams AND SINGS ALONG IT WAS GREAT
she does a few more songs, like ghost- etc. then the concert ends!
I had literally stood up for 10 hours straight, but it was so worth it.

disastrous part ahead-
getting out of the stage are isn't supposed to be hard when everyone is going in the same direction, but it was for me because my feet were hurting so fucking bad and the sides were like, swollen and shit and oh my jeebus crust it was difficult
OUR BROTHER WAS SUPPOSED TO COME PICK US UP RIGHT, BUT HIS PHONE DIES SO HE HAS TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK HOME AND GET MY MOM'S TO USE AS A GPS TO COME GET us. so we first have to leave the park bc they have to clean up right, and then we go to this mall across the street, THEY KICK US OUT BECAUSE THEY'RE "closing early for an event" and then we just stand outside the PNC bank in the shivering cold, it's not long 'till my brother comes and gets us and I literally fall asleep in the car.

EDIT- I forgot to add that both flume and vince performed this song and it was amazing because vince played it in the back and rapped, but flume did the music and added in the rapping
