Hi, It me Syth. I've been working On a New Project. Its A Server Tower! I usually have around like 10 friends come over to play with in my LAN party. My Fiber Couldn't hold all 10 So I invested Into A Server Tower! This can hold up to about 40 players! Its Took me about 2 days to build this server tower which is Over power as crap. I'll have an image provided to show you it. I built It in my room but I mounted it In my The hallway Closet (if that''s a thing?) So its easy to access because our LAN room is next to It! Ok here the Image Link and I'll Give You a description About it! Link: http://imgur.com/bof4kMz CPU: 2x Intel I7 5930k GPU: 980TI In SLI Mode! Motherboard: Asus Z9PE-D8WS RAM: 64GB Of DRR4 Server RAM Power Supply: EVGA 1600w G2 Supernova (The Wire management Was a disaster at first but now its clean But it was SOO Tiring!) Those are the components and it was very hard to achieve the money to get it so please do not get it in your head that I'm spoiled or anything like that. I hope you guys like the server I built with my best friend Phil. Shout Out to him! Anyways Duces. -Syth
I don't get it, why getting two 980tis for a server? Also, I doubt a 5930k supports dual-cpu... Edit: You could've saved a lot of money by getting an e5-2650 (which would've been enough) and a lower-end x99 mobo (all of them support ecc and sli) Edit #2: A 5930k doesn't support ecc ram (server ram) Edit #3: That's very cool nonetheless :PP Edit #4: Mind if we can have a look inside?
And here was me, about to put a 10 year old WinForce graphics card in a server, with a pentium chip. But if you don't have 980tis in your main system I would switch the graphics cards, unless you are doing massive amounts of video editing, OP graphics cards in servers aren't usually worth it. Cool project nonetheless. Also; (I couldn't use your exact motherboard model, as it wasn't on the database I used), although if the server works then that would be interesting.
I actually thought of that but it felt cooler to have two CPU's then one and the fact zeon are much more expensive. A local store modified the 5930k with this zeon parts which makes it compatible for dual which was EXPENSIVE! the 980ti was the reasonable because the titan x or and quardo cards would be way too much money and the fact that 6gb of VRAM is all We need with a whopping 2816 cuda cores which is above what I needed.
Ahh. Well They are way too powerful. But if 4 to 7 people were playing on one 980 ti it would be hard with normal to high setting (keep in mind this is not only minecraft its Triple A Games too)
Ohhh it's a "7 Gamers 1 pc" thing? Lol I thought it was a server Does it work? I thought we needed one gpu per virtual machine in order for this kind of build to work...
Exactly but a lot less cheaper and a lot less graphics and it was inspired from that. There is no VR in any of the games :3 People would be playing muitple games and sorry for the horrible name for this thread. I called it a server tower because it felt cool to. :I
It does work and my main system has a and r9 390 with a 6700k. I have a local shop that mods pc parts as they did with the 5930k It was super expensive but less expensive the. The zeon it self (just 1 not 2) and if i were to show the pic parts I would have to unwire the LAN and everything else in order to see the naked of which would take me ages and so much effort to unwire and wire PLUS cable management. It does well me and my "brothers" tried and it worked amazing (1080px1920) we would get an average 50 fps from the bench marks with all running at same time
