So there's the "Create Thread" button. I was writing my thing and without even writing anything relevant yet, I accidentally pressed the button and thread was created. Stay tuned for "I HATE CREATE THREAD BUTTON" in the near future. lol.


Post a pic of yourself is a popular thread on these forums with over 320k views on it. And that's an insane fucking number for a forum like this if I'm entirely honest. But I don't care, my thread is supposed to show why I dislike it. So fasten your seatbelts and make sure to take your selfies first.


First thing I dislike about the photos on that thread... Some of them aren't creative. "What the hell?" Okay maybe creative is the wrong word in this case. But there are some photos that are literally just photos. Nothing added to it. Nothing. There are apps like snapchat that can turn your face into a dog or whatever. When I made my face reveal, I turned it into a meme. Katy doesn't really anything with the photo itself, but most of the time she either has make up on or is around something and this I consider "creative". It doesn't take that much effort for god's sake! Why simply take a photo of yourself when you can add things to it...

Another problem I have with this extremely popular thread is the fact that some people don't give a single shit about anything. They literally take a photo of themselves not caring about the quality of the photo at all and the best you could get from them is "Sorry for bad quality". ARE YOU SERIOUS MAN?! TAKING AN ANOTHER PHOTO ON A PHONE TAKES LESS THAN A SECOND!! There's no way you just couldn't press a button a second time and make the quality of the photo better. And you know, I think it's because they just want likes =3... I'll get to that in a minute.

Then there's also the "this object that totally isn't me is me" trend. Poppy830 was the first one to start this crap, and the first and the second time it was quite funny,

But then, like any other meme/trend, people have to start doing it again right? Not to sound hypocritical, I did that too a couple of times but that was like a year ago and back then, I saw something funny in them. I guess because age... I don't care. But anyway, this is fucking stupid and I don't like that... Anymore.

So now to the "people want likes lately"... @_Magical, you're the best I swear. But anyway, she made this pic that pretty much summarizes everything:


And it's not even an exaggeration, I know a few people that only use PAPOY (Papoy... Heh) on the forums. I don't know if I should mention them, after all I didn't ask their permission to and... Whatever. If you're an asshole who wants likes, well PAPOY is the best choice, buddy.




So this is what I think of PAPOY... Papoy, KrisKrikken, get the name of your thread straight. Anyway, what do you think? Do you agree with me that some people/photos on this forum are bad, or do you hate me for making this thread in the first place? Anyway, tell me your opinion down below. Post a pic of urself is a like farm. If your amazingly beautiful @Katy_ then your pics can get up to 50 likes.
Which is quite a lot of likes. LIke theres easier ways to get likes.

Ok so, I can agree using filters etc can be annoying and when editing pictures, but if it's annoying you, just ignore the whole thread, easy as that, honestly, plus yes you'll earn a load of likes for posting a photo of yourself that's shouldn't be, well it's just a forums just a number, nothing that will impact our life's, honestly, and people aren't creative well it's a word none can honestly use as there's always been a picture of it before you did it, so all pictures you've got and posted has already been done before, but do we care? No we don't, and posting a picture of someone else or making a joke one, let it be, if we know it's fake don't need to attack the person who did it, or when it's a joke like "It's not funny" oh please it's just a forums for a server, we all fake or do shit we think it's funny but there's always will be people hating it, let's be real, we shouldn't care if we get pissed off want to rant about things, myself I mostly agree but it's just a forums nothing that will change our life's in a big chance, same with messages and likes, it won't, that's my opinion about this thread.

For the people complaining about bad quality:


It isn't because of having a shitty phone, if you have a 5MP camera which I'm sure most phones have now, you can get really good pictures with it.

Taking a shitty photo in the dark is bad, then adding some really cheap filter that makes you look like a cartoon is also bad. Sunlight helps brighten the photos up and it doesn't make it pixelated. Have some kind of light shining helps a lot.

Don't post a pic of you in the dark because "it matches your soul" as most people say on the forums.

But I'm going to have to agree with you on when people post inanimate objects on the thread and saying that it's them. Seriously? If you're too scared or whatever to post a picture of yourself on that thread then don't post at all. It's very annoying to see the exact same post over and over.

Another thing that bugs me is that people delete a picture of themselves within a few HOURS of posting the picture. I understand how some people don't want their face out for that long but at least delete the actual post instead of saying "deleted hehe c:" and still getting 20+ likes. Like you (and Magical) said, the thread right now is just a way to like farm or it's IJAH's equivalent to Instagram.

I just think society is way too concerned with other people's idea of what's pretty. People judge themselves so often now and it's just really sad to see people calling themselves ugly. Life is already difficult and people don't need to make it worse by thinking negatively about themselves. I will admit, I call myself ugly too and people just can't seem to control it anymore. I deleted my last picture because I just felt uncomfortable with it being there for everyone to see. People tend to be afraid about what others think about them and how they may appear as "ugly" or "not pretty/handsome". I just wish people accepted themselves for who they are and realize how special they are. People just need to look at themselves and smile for once instead of looking at the negative side. I might be repeating myself but I just want to get that message out there. Post on the thread if you want to. You shouldn't be nervous about posting a picture of yourself.

This is exactly what this thread is, from a certain point of view. We all know what you look like, no need to keep posting pictures.
My opinion: Just post a picture, and be done with it.

But yeah, this is basically IJAH Instagram. People post "hot" or "cute" photos of themselves, and then are showered with likes. I know y'all say that likes don't matter (which they really don't), but it's always nice to see someone actually liking some content you posted. That's why I think people keep posting pictures, because they always love that feeling when someone gives them a like, no matter if it means anything special. It's an addiction, if what I said is true.

Remember, I'm allowed to have an opinion about this topic. This is what I think.

Edit: I also agree with what @Katy_ said but I also think that those pictures of the weird chickens are just wow.

 

I enjoy seeing what people look like.. but then there is people who post pictures and go "I know I'm ugly" or "Ugly af" and I'm like.. "Then why post it?" That's my only pet peeve I have with that thread, other then that.. people post pictures just because, regardless of likes.. like when I post a picture.. I do it because people want me to.. not because I want likes.
Also, some troll posts and random conversations, make it seem like it's Facebook.. These forums are basically Facebook and Instagram combined.

i don't see the problem in the post a picture of youself thread. not everyone uses it for likes, lol. maybe the person took a picture of themselves, and thought to themselves "wow, i look pretty good in this picture. i want to post it somewhere." and post it? thats why i post it, not just for likes, but meh, it's different for everyone.

if you have such a problem with it, don't look at it. simple solution.

From my POV, this 'Post a Picture of Youself' thread is just a trend people are following. I personally have no problem with it, but I see why people do have problems with it.
Understand that people like posting pictures of themselves, which is completely fine with me, but the supposted problem with this is that people are amassing a huge amount of likes.
To me, this is only a problem when people go out of their way to get likes on a forum, as it is just a number.
People forget that they themselves are equal to the person who is 20x less popular than you, 'Likes' do not define you.

The way I see it, you do not need to go out of your way to post multiple pictures of yourself and post it someone on the thread. You only really need to do so once. Once again, I see why people post multiple pictures of themselves, but the reason why people see it as a problem is for these three reasons:

1. Likes, as I previously mentioned.

2. They do not feel confortable with people posting pictures of themselves. This can be divided into two sub-topics which I will list now.
1. They are jealous of you because of the amount of attention you are getting.
2. They think that it belongs somewhere else.

This explains it perfectly.

3. This is the biggest reason why people do not like the thread, and this gif sums it up perfectly:

This is because people think it has gotten way out hand, and they want the trend to stop existing essentially.

Remember this is my opinion, you do not have to agree with me, these are the reason why I think people do not like it. Thank you for reading.

 

Alright, people, here comes an unpopular opinion.

Fuck Post a picture of yourself. Fuck this thread. Fuck all the drama surrounding it.

Basically, there are two types of people: either you love this thread, or you hate it, and all the flame wars surrounding the two types of people make us, the J&H community, seem like idiots to be honest. This was started in order to see what other people on J&H looked like, but it has become a drama thread, a flame war starter and a like farm. But okay, want my opinion about both of those threads? Okay. I think we have seen everybody's face on POPOY, so it actually wouldn't hurt the community to close this thread. "What the fuck Jerome, we can't stop this thread from existing, how are we gonna see people's selfies?" Put it as a profile picture and stop asking for likes. That's it. Stop posting on this thread and put it as your fucking avatar, then lock the thread, and we will save a lot of drama. And about this thread, I agree with picture quality & fake pics, but I think originality is dumb. If you want, you can save people's faces and add lominaties around their eyes and posting it on the thread, and we will have a good laugh, but is it really needed? I also think this thread should be closed in order to save the drama surrounding both threads.

TL;DR: We know how everyone looks, and people who post daily are asking for likes. Both POPOY and POPOY Rant threads are dumb and should be locked.

So, I invite @KrisKrikken and @CaptainJackValdy to lock both threads to save a lot of drama.

But hey that's only my opinion.

 

I'm not going to lock it, as it's not up to me what people do with the thread. I created it a year ago just because I wanted to see some pictures of people I only thought of as a forum person. Right now, I like how it has evolved into a more spammy thread rather than just pictures. If you don't want to participate, don't. If you do, go ahead.
