My thoughts as of late.

I've been thinking a bit lately, and I want your opinion on something; Am I immature for my age? (If you didn't know, I'm 14.) You may have noticed some recent changes to my forum account, such as my updated information page and new profile picture. I've also attempted to change my attitude. The reason for this is because I was trying to become more mature. Don't get me wrong, I've also been trying to change IRL, which is why this is in the "real life stuff" section.
I think this because when I'm around my friends, who are the same age as I am, I feel mentally younger than them. I no longer feel like I act my age, thus my attempt to act more mature.
The reason behind the creation of this thread is to get your opinions. Am I immature for my age? Let me know. if you don't have anything additional to say in your post, I added a poll.

You're still young. Just be yourself. If your friends don't accept you for who are then they truly aren't real friends. I mean it's great that you're trying to be more mature, but don't change who you are for others. You're either mature or you're not. It will come with age and experience. We all mature differently remember that. ;)

 

Don't force yourself to grow up. Like Xcel said, if your friends don't accept you, they aren't your friends. People should accept you for who you are. You are someone with an amazing soul and heart and no one should ever judge you for being yourself. It's awesome how you are deciding to become more mature and I hope you don't change your ways because you are a truly amazing person. c;

We all got to mature one day; there's nothing we can do to stop that. Honestly, why even want to grow up/mature so fast? Our younger years are where we make memories, where we make our bestest of friends. I wouldn't want to abandon those times, but nothing lasts forever. I'm 14 as well, and I act like I'm 10 at times, seriously. There are times to be mature, but you shouldn't think you have to be mature all the time to fit in. Just be yourself, and if people can't accept that, you shouldn't hang around with those people.

Also, why is immaturity a "bad" thing to most people? I know there are times when immaturity is not needed, but seriously. Immaturity is a way people express their-selves, a way people learn for the future. We can't escape that, but we can charge right through it.

These are just my thoughts/opinions.

 

Everyone is unique in different ways. We mature at different time rates. This shouldn't stop you from being who you truly are on the inside. :)

 

Forcing yourself to change (in my opinion) to suit the likes of others around you is the worst possible thing for yourself. There's nothing more damaging than putting on that costume of yourself that you wear every time you go out just to please the people around you. Believe me, it's something that will hurt you even more in the long run. As a favorite quote of mine said, "if you don't do wild thing's when your young, you won't have anything to smile back on when your old." Stick to who you are on the inside, and if your friends don't like what the real you is, they aren't real friends. If being immature is what you really are, embrace it!
