This server. Home to some of the best times of my young life. That was 2013. This server has recently had a drop in players, from the average on weekdays being about 1,100 going down to around 700. Weekends it jumps to 1,000 because of EU players. But sad to say, this isn't just because of the recent 1.9 update. They know how to go back to a recent release. This server is becoming irrelevant. Yes, you're adding countless minigames while trying to add in the factor of originality. But at this point, you can't have that anymore. AgarPvP and CraftRoulette are some mini-games that have only been met with so much popularity. Sure, there is a spike in players when the games are just released, but as time goes by, people move on to things they're more comfortable with. That's why creative and skyblock, two of the most used server/minigame ideas have so many players. They're classics. Almost whatever server you log on to, you'll find creative. Even on servers based around PvP. At this point, you can't have originality. As one great user said, Minecraft is becoming oversaturated. The kids aren't in it for the originality. Like they could even process that, as most of the new players are from 7-11. They're in it for something fun. Fun minigames, sad to say, just aren't original anymore. A lot of major servers have skywars, such as Hypixel and Mineplex. They're some of the biggest minigames on them! Hypixel has an average of 10,000 players on skywars. You can't just sit here and wait on minigames with big competitors like the Hive or Hypixel or Mineplex or some other giant server to release another arcade game. All in all, you can have an original server, but you can't satisfy the majority of kids that play this game at the moment. This server is home to some very mature people. But as I said before, the minecraft community is becoming oversaturated with teens. You could try listing this server on some sites, but you can't just bring in your players through youtube. Half of the viewers actually look through the description. I still absolutely love this server and will not leave no matter what, as it is a great place to converse with others (sometimes in inappropriate ways @AmerixanPsycho) and overall have fun. The server's not dead yet. But at the current state, we don't really need as many staff. 42 is way over enough for each minigame server. Yes, some are inactive for parts of the day, but itsjerryandharry only has so many truly populated minigames. Edit: Adding on to the "originality" part of this text, you can't have new games anymore, unless they're on major servers. Hypixel has skywars, Mineplex has survival games... Itsjerryandharry has this scattered bunch of games that not enough people want to play. Now, with the major release of skywars, there have been thousands of youtube videos about it. Skyblock has thousands of videos about it. Survival games has thousands of videos about it, and so on. Now that the community of Minecraft is already oversaturated with stubborn kids that are too ignorant to try new things, you can't expect them to not watch videos of their favorite game. Minecraft. Now this bring the kids to the major servers. This doesn't bring the kids to us. Yes, Itsjerryandharry has 2 youtube channels. 1 for machinima sort videos, and 1 for gaming. Sad to say, most of these gaming videos are not videos of games from their own server. It's what they enjoy. You can't enjoy something while raking in the cash, because as I said before, the stubborn minecraft kids that are used to doing the same things over and over without trying new experiences such as this great mass of players called itsjerryandharry. Being original just isn't "cool" anymore. The kids are looking for the most fun they can have. But innovative ideas like agarpvp and craftroulette aren't being viewed upon as fun. The kids want fun. Which is why it's okay to copy some other server's idea. Edit 2: Read the whole post before replying. If you don't understand, don't reply. Yes, it would be great for the stubborn kids to update back to 1.8 and play this wonderful server. But they don't want to. The server just isn't addictive enough for the kids to keep coming back. They are just in it for the game, not the play. That's what you have to understand as a server creator. Ugh, I love this server. I love how it's stood through all the player lows... I love how it's had one of the best communities I've ever seen. But I don't like to see how little people can experience this pure joy. We can't be original anymore. No server can if they need to make money through it. Whatever. I'm going to end on a positive note and say; I love all of you.
Yep I agree. Nothing can really be "original" anymore. 7-11 year olds like the "trending" things online because they think it'll make them "cool" and "hip". Not true lol. Anyway, I agree 100%. I love this server though, not saying it's bad.
Oh boo-hoo. So what if there's a small drop in players? The server is doing just fine. This is the millionth thread about the server "dying" when in reality, it's not at all. Making a thread about the fact that you don't like how many people online, won't make more people come online.
I mentioned on how to try and fix this, such as listing the servers on minecraft server lists. If you had this server on a server list, you could get people to vote. These votes would have rewards. People would vote daily, getting rewards each time, which keeps them coming back. You could also try and buy advertisement... 500 is a lot of people btw
You are all just looking at the server when it is night time and when everyone is asleep. Either that or everyone is at school. Making threads about the server dying isn't going to help with anything at all, so it is best that you please stop talking about these threads I may be over-exaggerating but this might be the 1000th thread made about the server dying. Sheesh. Honestly I still cannot believe you wasted 15 minutes writing about something that has been talked about over and over again. It isn't the end of the world. Don't hate me, I am just venting from this. Hate comments will be ignored.
So the last two threads were shutdown by Harry, do you think this one is diffrent? I dont think y'all have gotten the message: Complaining over the same shit is anoying and ineffective.
Yes, I know I am not the first person to realize this and, getting on on thursday at around 4:00 there were only 700 or so people on, when 2 months ago it was about 1,200.
I have to agree with you on this :) Also, I wish staff/owners would listen to the community more. I don't even want to know how many threads have been made about the reset of OITC stats...
This is very true. Skywars is one of the best mc minigames I have ever played. I absolutely love it. Sure the server has an overload of staff, but none of them are really on. They are great people, as I know most of the older ones. The server is in a ditch (Player count wise) and that just attracts hackers as they know they will most likely get away with it. Anyway, that is my honest opinion.
I find it funny how everyone thinks this thread is about the server dying... It really isn't its more about how to get more players on the server and some advice on what to improve on stop treating it like a bio-hazard
Even on weekends, the concurrent amount of players at peak time is much lower than what it was previously. Most times it was at 2000+ people but now it's barely half that. There's really not much in this server anymore to make people want to stay. Let alone encourage new players to join. For all you people stating something along the lines of 'We do not need a voting system, we are a big enough community', is the most stupid thing I've ever heard LOL. So what if you're a big community, you could have 100 people or 100000 people on a server, but voting will still have the same affect. Encourages players to join, gives them a taste of what to expect, information about the server, rewards players whom choose to vote and so much more. Do the right thing first not last.
Why not make a case to suggest a game like Skywars? I'd recommend you appeal to why the game is good, and not how it might save the server :)
This is just my opinion, don't take it as a threatning or something like that. Remember this. It's not like the server is dying or getting underrated. Let's be real, minecraft is dying. Minecraft is slowly becoming less creative and original, and people are moving on into new games, with more creativity and more ways to play than ever. I mean, don't you think that you already know everything about minecraft? We've already done everything. Most of the community did that and, as a consequence, the game is slowly degradating. I mean, how many times you were already bored of Minecraft because you had already DONE everything? I bet everyone was bored at least once when playing Minecraft. This happens because the game is losing its creativity and originality. There aren't as many new gamemodes to play, because the game is LIMITED by its frontiers. There isn't much anymore we can do about the game. Whenever they add 1.9, maybe there will be new gamemodes but minecraft will still be the same. That's one of the reasons why many people are leaving and it's understadable, since there are many new videogames that are way more interesting than minecraft is nowadays. As it happens to all games, they will die at one moment, and there's nothing we can do about it. I mean, look at Pac-Man? What was the last time you've heard about it? 10 years ago? There's a particular game that caught me some attention about this topic. Counter-Strike: Source. Have you heard of it? It was one of the most played games on Steam in 2013/2014 (I'm not sure though) and it was played by many players (just like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive now). The game, eventually lost to Valve's new release: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Yeah, you might have heard of it, it's the game mostly played on Steam, nowadays. Just look at it: Spoiler Eventually, Counter-Strike: Source had to die. Its new cousin, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, has a lower price and better perks: Better Quality, Better Gameplay, etc.. This happens to EVERYTHING. I mean, look at the old vine of the "9+10", it was excessively used by many people on online forums and everything, but it eventually, lost its fame. *Now a Philosophic Quote* That's how life is, creativity and originality aren't permanent, so literally everything has to die once, we don't know when, but it will. Think about this quote. I mean, I bet you understood what I meant. Minecraft is slowly losing its creativity and originality and that's why most servers are dying, not just this one. The reason why this server is slowly losing players, it's because there are new gamemodes everyday on different servers and there are some classic games, as said by @Mocosloco , that people will never let them go, such as Skyblock, Creative and Factions. Those are classics and that's why they're mostly played. Sadly and I'm sorry to tell you guys, this server will eventually have the final judgement day and it will die. Probably, when that happens, Minecraft won't survive as long.. but we don't need to worry about this right now, since Minecraft is still an overrated game and played by many Users everyday. So is this server. Besides that, we all have heard/seen a lot of Drama inside this server. I mean, we are here to enjoy the game, not talking about how miserable our life is and what happened to me and all that. I mean seriously, is this a game or a problematic meeting? We should stop acting this way, because this is also killing the server and especially its community. We need to think of this as a game to have fun, a game where we can be entertained, not something where we cry about how our life is. We know life is hard, but that's why we play this game for: entertainment. Not much people take Minecraft as a Job or something serious, because they're there to have fun, and that's how I think we all should start acting differently about this situation. Once again, this is just my opinion about this topic. We all love it now, but one day it will eventually die and there's nothing we can do about it, unless Minecraft changes completely and gets new types of gameplays. Of course, this event will take many years to happen or maybe even decades, since Minecraft is one of the games mostly played nowadays, so it's not something we should be worrying about at this moment. Also, he's just trying to improve the community by saying how the drops increased. I mean, what he was trying to say it's that the server doesn't have as many players as it did before. And actually making a thread about the server "dying" will help people understand what's happening and it will make more people come online, since the correct thing to do is to tell everyone how the server is "dying", and increase the number of players online. So actually, making a thread about it, will help people understanding what's happening and it will also give everyone a perspective about all this and increase how people worry about this topic, making it a more important topic. I mean, we need to have attention on this topic. We don't want the server to shut down, right? So why are we just letting this topic flow away? That's like knowing we're going to die on one day and we just try to make it last longer.. That's just useless. The server will die one day and we need to start acting about this. Everyone should do their part and invite their friends to the server, give new suggestions, etc.. That's how the server will increase on players. Complaining about this isn't ineffective, it's very effective. It makes people open their eyes to the reality, and most people haven't seen it yet, or just don't want to admit it. So yeah, that's my opinion about it and I hope no one was hurt in some way, because I'm just trying to state my opinion and trying to make this a better community. Thanks for reading.
Yeah, there's a drop in players on the server, and I really like how you suggested ways to get more players online, instead of just ranting. But, it's not like it's dying. It's still a popular server, and I don't think a small drop in players is really affecting that at the moment. You're right, though, we should find a way to attract more players. A completely original game might not do that, though, as more people are looking for certain minigames that servers have, something popular, like Skywars or something among those lines. Overall, I agree that there's been a drop in players. But like I said, it's not really significant as there are still a lot.
I have to agree with that. Its prime days of 2013 have gone by and it's about time the kids look for something more exciting instead of the same old typing, pvping, and building. That was all this game was good for. People have made ways to make this better, such as jerry and harry, but in the end it's all died down. We've lived Minecraft to its fullest. In the end, it's going to be replaced by steam games, gamejolt games, and other indies. Minecraft made a giant skyscraper and all of us just toppled it down. It toppled itself down, even.
