OITC has dwindled as well. Most of the time, I see maybe one or two columns in the TAB name list. There were times at OITC when being able to get a 1v1 was almost impossible, to now it can sometimes be a celebration that you have a rival in game during the dead hours.
Hopefully, the server doesn't die out like most servers tend to do. It's already starting to die, lets hope it doesn't finish. This is my favorite server, after all.
My suggestion would be to reset a lot of the servers, and add more unique mini-games that will attract more players. Also including leaderboards in some more mini games would be cool as well. and could liven up the server
Ever since 1.9 came out, the amount of players on IJAH has drastically declined. I believe that around 5 PM EST (time this picture was taken) is a peak hour for IJAH: http://prntscr.com/adocbs Note this, 527 players. At around this time, there would normally be around 1,100 or more. At peak days (the weekends), the server normally gets 2,000 players or more, however, last weekend, the server peaked at around 1,000. Decline in players->Decline in donations->Server dies.
You guys need to calm down. When you think about players online, do you think that the thousand players you see online at 11 am is the same thousand players as at 5 pm? Sure, there are plenty of people who are still on but a huge amount of players get off and other players get on. Think of it like it's a fair (with free entry just so the comparison works). The fair opens at 8 am and by 9 am let's say there are about 1000 people there. Let's fast forward 5 hours. It's 2 pm now. There are about 1,500 people at the fair. Do you think that those original 1000 people all stayed for 5 hours and that only 500 more people came to the fair since 5 hours prior? No, of course not. Sure, maybe some people are really enjoying the fair and stayed for 5 hours but the large majority of the people at the fair by 2 pm are new people that weren't there at 9 am. It's the same with the server - the players on early in the day aren't the same players on later in the day - a lot of them are different players. There aren't just 1500 players that play on J&H - I'd guess that there are at least 20,000+ regular players, probably more (depends how much time per week you call regular). Even if it does have less players right now than before 1.9 came out, it doesn't change the fact that they still have a ton of players and the server is far from dead. The fact that some people don't know how to get on the server because they updated to 1.9 doesn't mean that J&H will suddenly stop getting enough donations to survive or anything like that, and many players have already figured out or know how to downgrade to 1.8, so in time those players who are confused right now will come back. Do remember that 1.9 isn't the only thing going on right now - many schools are about to get out for spring break and most classes have final assessments for the end of the quarter/first half of the semester or they have big projects or a big paper due or whatever, so people are inactive and not getting on J&H right because of that reason as well, and school is always a big killer of players on any server. In short, J&H isn't dying. Temporarily losing players because of the 1.9 update and because of people being busy with school doesn't mean the server isn't going to have enough donations to survive. If the server ever came anywhere near not having enough money to afford hosting for every server they have, then J&H would obviously make sacrifices to keep the server alive, so even if the loss of players right now was great that the server was in danger - which it isn't, as I keep saying - then the server wouldn't close, it just might change a bit. There's no need to fret over the server closing, it's survived much worse (EULA issue for example), it still has a massive player base, and most of the players who aren't on right now from school and 1.9 will be back in due time. So don't worry, the server isn't going anywhere. Have a nice day. Spoiler
Why not make this server 1.8 AND 1.9 compatible like Hypixel and MinePlex? Everyone will than be happy
I remember a year or two ago when I played actively the server was ALWAYS full of people... Honestly, the first time I ever noticed the downfall of the server was 1-2 months after factions came out. Alot of the friendliness and community in this server was ripped apart by people like me that found it fun to destroy factions. If anyone remembers the ElFactionDeFuego incident, that is where it all took a turn for the worse.
How could the server be low on donations with the amount ranks cost and the amount of ranked players i have seen how much does a server cost??? I have looked into it and a stock server is above $50 I dont know if plugins cost??? But if a god rank is costing $200 + surely the server isnt running out of money.
1.9 came out + the rates have dropped on j&h and minecraft + donation drops + Server slowly dies = J&H is Dead This is my opinion
Like Harry said, the server is still on 1.8. However, the numbers have been dropping. But I think the server will stay up for much longer time.
I kinda wonder if it'll be like 1999, where they thought the computers would go up to 2000, but they did. What if after 1.9, it doesn't do up to 2.0
Um, hi, I am a bit new. So yeah, this server probably isn't gonna die for a long time, at least by my standards. but what i'm REALLY intrested in is the "ElFactionDeFuego Incident". What happened? can you be like an old war veteran and tell me a story?
I mean sure, I've seen a huge player drop especially the beginning of last summer. I believe this is because some of the "dead" minigames. For example, buildit was once a very popular server to the j and h community. Now we barely see 10-20 people on there daily, and even 30 if it's a good day. Another prime example is a new minigame uhc. Let's face it, uhc seems boring to us hence why no one plays it. I say how to solve this issue is to either revamp some of these minigames or just take them out and come up with new ideas for new minigames and even ask the community their input on the matter. From what I been hearing lately, players have been wanting skywars on this server and I believe that can spike this server back up a few thousand people - Harold Edit: herobrines chamber still remains popular but I believe it should be revamped with a scoreboard and possibly a new spawn with arenas and new diff gamemodes that come with this minigame
This thread is like saying when are we going to die.. We just don't need or want to know Everyone happy? or just you? If 1.7.10, 1.8, and 1.9 are ever compatible together then everyone will be happy.
The community could play a role of getting the server taken down. Like @MappyTurtle said it could be the donations. Or it could be the fact that there are assholes all over that make people want to leave, and cause the community to shrink.
